Jasper is a Safari Zone Worker who helps maintain the natural environment of the Great Marsh, protecting wild Pokémon habitats, and preventing poaching. He grew up in Hearthome City, where his deep love and respect for Pokémon was fostered.

Jasper's first Pokémon partner was a Turtwig he received from Professor Rowan during one of the Professor's visits. Jasper named the Turtwig Kurma, and always took good care of it, learning how to best tend to its needs. Jasper and Kurma went on a journey together to grow and learn about other Pokémon and how their environments influence their health and happiness.

Jasper eventually moved to Pastoria City, where he got a job working at the Safari Zone in the Great Marsh. He started in an entry level position, but is now part of the counter-poaching division.
