I went with a wash of the first base color, then after it dried, to do some cel shading and not blending these, I put in a slightly darker/more vibrant color layered on top of the other. Usually I prefer using a color that's kinda on the same value but on a "darker" hue (compared to orange a darker hue is red/magenta) because layered on top of that it adds a different nuance and also darkens the underlaying tone.
It's actually really easy to layer more colors with alcohol markers, it's kinda like watercolor, it's ONLY additive

When you say wash, do you mean with watercolor or the alcohol marker?
I've tried shading/blending before but sometimes IDK if I'm doing it right. With blending between the shadows (especially to create soft and hard edges), I sometimes just take one of the colors and just blend in circular motions. IDK if I'm supposed to use those colorless marker blenders or a q-tip w/ alcohol. I know they can help in certain ways.
