Here is another Egyptian god, this time Anubis being changed into a golden statue. The design is heavily inspired by the SMITE game.
___
An Egyptian god of funerals, protector of the diseased, and embalming of cadavers. So even in death, Anubis will ensure order and respect will remain in balance with their unyielding judgment and unbiased scale within the hall of Two Truths. Although sometimes mistaken to be a bringer of death and suffering, Anubis acts more as a guide for those that have passed; relieving the burden of being lost and alone after death. Despite the reputation, Anubis had an image to uphold; with the head of a jackal and an anthropomorphic body that mortals would be able to comprehend…
When it came to the combat of gods and deities from mythology, Anubis takes a more cunning and whimsical approach as opposed to more savage tendencies. Anubis is more than happy to be humble when an opportunity presents itself. But this would prove to leave him to overconfidence and eternal humiliation on a grand spectacle…
In a grave turn of events, Anubis is at the mercy of a gorgon with a glint of greed and dominance in their eyes. Anubis is forced to take a knee, not even having the time to protest before being engulfed in a blinding gaze as his limbs begin to feel heavy and numb. Anubis waited for his vision to clear… but his sight never returned, too distracted to notice that he was unbreathing, unblinking, and soon to be unthinking…
As the light clears, a glistening statue of Anubis is revealed; still and kneeling before the greedy lustful eyes of the gorgon. Completely transformed into a solid gold statue, Anubis’s body was unmoving and his facial expression unchanging. A silent eternal cry resonated around the jackal's golden face, even their teeth and tongue were frozen inside their maw that remained ajar.
Being heavy and solid, needless to say, Anubis was worth his weight in gold; quite literally. A priceless masterpiece purely intended to be prominently on display for all eyes to admire. Or for as long as an audience can appreciate, perhaps it might be best for the golden statue of Anubis be melted down and repurposed into jewelry and trinkets or oddities…
Regardless, Anubis is nothing more than treasure, a trophy proclaiming one’s victory over Anubis's defeat… A reward worth fighting over…
