The following week Father Shadow spent more time in the church, having already completed a handful of cases given to him. On one of these days, when he wasn’t being followed by the usual crowd, he bumped into Maria as she was carrying some laundry that needed tending to. She didn’t notice him at first and was quite startled as he said hello next to her, dropping the basket. She apologized and blushed when saw it was him, quickly moving to pick up the spilled laundry. He bent down to help which made Maria even more flustered as again recalled her thoughts from the other day. He was so close and she did her best to ignore him as the last of the laundry was scooped up. She quickly excused herself and ran off. Shadow watched her and smiled with an expression he hadn’t shown inside the church before.
“My my, what an interesting find” he thought to himself as watched her. Wondering if his suspicions might be correct. He’d need a better look to confirm, but the possibility pleased him greatly.
Maria spent every chance she got to avoid him and would quickly scurry off if saw him coming down the same hallway or area in general. Still trying to get the sinful thoughts out of her head, but they only seemed to grow. Thinking about him leaning into her, his breath against her cheek as she made such embarrassing sounds.
