"I love you like the sun loves California" - Beth Hart, my most favorite artist at the moment who is very similar to Janis Joplin. This picture is an experiment i feel gone RIGHT. I have a pendent necklace of this "Eclipse" and I really wanted to redo it on Canvas. Originally, I wanted the subject to be smaller and show more background of a transition of day to night with large clouds on the bottom ascending to the top and becoming small versus large stars on top descending to become small. I feel it would have made a nice background and a good touch to this idea. I've googled the sun and moon and have seen MANY images with this idea of the sun and moon shown together like this (eclipse) and I think it's the best idea. WHAT BLEW ME AWAY ON THIS, was the eyes. To be truly honest, everything you see before you on this piece was pure paint and brush. There was no pencil drawing on the canvas and laying out the plan. I know that's not the best way to do art, but in this case, i feel it turned out perfect. Additionally, I am proud of this piece beccause I used a technic that was very foreign and uncertain to me. I decided to do layers, blend colors inorder to transition from a yellow to orange to red using water, but also to be a bit mess and think . . . It can be fixed later, don't worry. Overall, Cheers and i take my hat off to the celtic creator who made my necklace at the Highland Games I went to a while back. If it weren't for you as well as my decision to jump for that necklace, this piece may never be.
