Something I wanted to do to help develop Jacob a bit more. I had fun doing it.
Age 5: Innocent, happy, and easily excitable. He would get into just about anything he could get his little hands on; his father's tool kit, or his mother's make up kit. Crayons? He'd either eat them or use them to draw on the wall. Mud? He'd either eat it, play in it, or finger paint on the walls. Toys? He'd either eat them, bury them, or leave them around the house. Do you see a pattern here?
Age 13: Like most boys his age, he had in interest in sports, and would participate in almost anything his school had to offer. His favorite sports to play at the time were baseball, basketball, but mostly soccer. He joined the soccer team for awhile, and was pretty good at it. Though, he was just there to have fun.
Age 17: Eventually took a liking to football, played awhile, and eventually became one of the star players. (He was the Quarterback.) This was also around the time he reached 'Werewolf puberty', which is when a werewolf gains all of the powers their kind has, i.e, super human strength, speed, and heightened senses, so you could imagine having such power would make playing any sport easier. This is also around the time he started showing some interest in men.
Age 25: Now in his 3rd year of being on the force as a patrol officer, he eventually moves up after 2 more years and becomes a detective. (SVU; Special Victims Unit)

Just to add to it, the eyes does grow as you get older but it's not very much considering the original size to begin with.
It's definitely a stylistic choice here though. You want the youngin's looking cuter and stuff, so bam, big eyes!
It is more abstract than realistic, but that's a whoooole other debate in art that is way too complicated to get in to.

usually characters that are young or innocent have larger, rounded, sometimes cute, eyes, as they get older and mature they get smaller and more narrow or have straight edges to show maturity, it's really quite common
Take a look at a Japanese anime show, if there's a child or an innocent character, they'll have big, round eyes and a mature character will have smaller eyes or eyes with straight edges
For example, look at Yugi and Yami Yugi from Yu-Gi-Oh! Yugi has round eyes and Yami Yugi's eyes are all rectangular
Or, look at the difference in these two characters

Oh, not at all. And I mean about over thinking, because it is something to think about and a pretty real possibility. He does quit the team eventually, because he had no control over his strength at the time, as it literally came out of no where. His parents, especially his father never warned him, so Jacob actually ended up inuring an opposing player, and ended up quiting the team himself for fear he'd hurt someone else.
