Judith Moleman is Owen Moleman’s single parent. Owen never knew his father because his father was abusive and drank heavily. While Judith was pregnant with Owen in Indiana, his father threatened her, forcing her to flee back to California. Later, Owen’s father was arrested for murdering another woman and was sentenced to life in an Indiana prison.

Silvia Meerkatson is Sam’s single parent. Her husband was selfish and argumentative, spending money on alcohol and drugs for himself. His behavior stemmed from unresolved trauma after Sam’s grandmother—his mother—was murdered during a mall mass shooting. When Sam was eleven, Silvia filed for divorce and moved to Northridge, California. After the divorce, Sam and her mother developed a complex relationship. When Sam turned eighteen, she moved in with her best friend, Martha.

Elijah Burrowitz is Martha’s father. He has an extreme obsession with perfectionism due to growing up in a strict Jewish household. Whenever he notices even a small mistake, he becomes angry and yells. He favors his older son, Jacob, while frequently arguing with his youngest son, Aaron. These daily conflicts continued throughout Martha’s childhood, which ultimately led her to move out of the house at eighteen.

Sarah Burrowitz is Martha’s mother. She is the nicest one in the family.

David Raccoonschmidt is Rhonda’s father. He is German Jewish and grew up in a wealthy family.

Miriam Raccoonschmidt is Rhonda’s mother. Miriam and David have a healthy relationship and enjoy food together. Miriam can be a bit impulsive and openly enjoys having a sexual relationship with David.
