The Angora rabbit is know for their long, silky, hypoallergenic fur. They are a 300 year old breed (Possibly even older) dated back to the early 1700's. They started in Turkey and were then brought to France in 1723, where they became popular pets for French royalty a few decades after. By the end of 1700, they were all over Europe. It wasn't until the early 1900's that they finally made their way to the United States, becoming popular for angora fur garments. After WW2, the demand for their fur sky rocketed, leading to mass production of this breed and its fur, striking controversy today for some harsh methods of harvesting the fur.
To note: By majority, there are plenty of humane breeders, who gently shear their Angora Rabbits during hot months, or spin it into wool straight from the rabbit, (which does not hurt them) making %100 humane real fur garments.
