7.7.2XXX
"Okay, lets try pushing this baby just a bit more," Arbitt says to himself. Standing in front of the monitor, he is getting ready to initiate another trial run of the time machine he built over the last 3 years. A dial turned up slightly here, a button switching a setting on there and presto, the device is ready to go. "Fingers crossed this will actually do something, instead of just drinking a small nuclear power plant's worth of electricity," he says to himself. "Here we go," he says and initiates the startup sequence.
---
Arbitt hears the machine fully power, but almost immediately, red lights go off and the panels are flashing warnings.
"Oh no," he scrambles to get it to stop, but halting a time machine mid-operation is not quite an easy task. The estimated target is shown on one of the diagnostic panels: 700 BC - the Etruscan era.
Despite his best efforts a rift opens in the middle of the raised pad and an ancient forest appears, alongside a curious figure. The portal finally stabilises enough to initiate the emergency shutdown sequence, which Arbitt initiates posthaste.
Another message appears on the diagnostic log: "Living being successfully transported! Congratulations!" An ancient horse (not a pony, a short horse) alongside some grass and a handful leaves has been transported somewhere to the current time and date.
"Oops."
