Everlasting flames from wings eternal.

Wanted to try something a little different.
I've been doodling Syver a lot lately and this drawing spawned from a simpler sketch that I liked the vibes of. Most of this was just rolling with different ideas as they came to me. It's also nice to revisit his fire halo, which I haven't drawn him with in years. It's not a feature he has "on" all the time and it mostly only exists as a neat little extra for style points, but it's kinda nostalgic for me personally because it ties back into some really old art I did as a kid and serves as a little tribute to where I got started.

I love this one! The stylised and symbolic presentation targets my tastes specifically. :D
The colour scheme is so pleasing to look at - it's a great palette from his design to begin with, but the teal/aqua used alongside it works really well and is so pretty. Syver's newer and more elegant design is portrayed really well with how his neck bends almost like a swan's, and I really like how you didn't use lineart for his beak and incorporated it into the colours instead. It adds a touch of stylisation and feels like a great way to portray features without hard edges. That said, the actual lineart works well too; the dark lines, especially in the background with the halo and 'beams', bring to mind a stained glass window, which makes for a great visual. The frame really helps tie everything together, too: it's simple, but it works so well, especially with those corners and the little feathers. I always find it hard to balance something ornate without making it too much, and I think you achieved that balance very well here!
The fire halo is a cool idea, and I really like the idea of bringing it back here to make it a focal point in such a stylised way. It being set against a circle and ringed with fire reminds me of a sort of sun or eclipse - either way, it's very stylish. I had no idea his halo was such an old idea! It's really interesting and neat that it's a re-imagining of something from when you were little.
I hope you're satisfied with this piece overall, because it looks superb! Granted, I'm speaking from a personal bias, but it's a fantastic dip into something different than what you usually do. I think the Avatars could look brilliant in this style as well, with focal points like the halo here being something like their glyphs instead. At least, that thought is what immediately sprung to mind when I first saw this. It's potentially an excuse to draw similar things for your project 👀

Thank you! <3
Honestly, same here, I find balancing ornate stuff pretty difficult and I always end up internally divided over how much detail is too much or too little. I think since this isn't something I've done very often, I don't have a clear feel for it, so it's good to know the balance turned out well in this one. Some parts of it were really just winging it (pun not intended, but still embraced) and seeing what worked, including things like just using colour for his beak. In some ways, though, it's refreshing to work on something without worrying about as many details!
There's a part of me that still thinks I could've done more with it (not as a knock on it, I think it's really because I'm used to a different style and thus different "rules", so to speak), but overall it's a good result and I'm glad it turned out pretty good for what pretty much just started with a silhouette. You're right, though, I could take a crack at things like this for the Avatars! I probably should, even, since it could pull double duty in figuring out imagery and iconography for Aurius in general. Knowing me, random whim will take the wheel some day and I'll draw one while not working on something else, lol
