And Leo shouldn't be so quick with calling them traitors. I'm sure the other guardians didnt join the chaos on free will. It could be, that the chaos acts a bit like the Borg and "assimilates" any useful life form.

Huh, I can't help but think there's a misunderstanding here? I don't know if it was intentional or not, but it sounds like these Guardians were killed and their bodies got controlled by the Chaos. But the crew makes it sound like they willfully joined them, which sounds completely different. And I'm confused why Alexander isn't correcting them, unless I'm missing some lore?
We saw back at the beginning Lynus' grandson being turned into a Guardian. For what we know every Chaos beast got corrupted while still alive (so much we saw rhat mother bugbear they fought in the snow mountain got turned while her cubs were slaughtered, either by the creature that infected her or by herself post-corruption) and apparently Commanders are turned by Rah'Jan himself (hence why they keep their conscience instead of turning into mindless beasts like the rest of Chaos creatures);
We don't know what Rah'Jan offered this guy (in Lynus grandson's case was showing him the "truth" about the Tree of Life, or at least what Rah'Jan claimed it was the truth) but yeah some Guardians probably accepted becoming Commanders in exchnage of way more selfish reasons, and so yeah they can technically be called traitors. As for why Alexander isn't correcting: well like he said meeting a Chaos Commander is usually when a Guardian's life ends, so very little of them survived a encounter to give information, and none knows the reason why a Guardian would accept turning into a Chaos Commander.
