Here depicts some examples of traditional garb for my original alien species "The Krii" -These are clothing sets for the short-haired tropical variants. From left to right we have: The Jungle, Swamp, and Mangrove peoples.
Descriptions:
Jungle-
Clothing:
Tropical jungle cities are stiflingly hot and humid, so less clothing is more comfortable. Nudity is somewhat prevalent in these regions, especially if it is raining, since their short velvet-like fur is mostly waterproof. They most commonly wear thin, cloth-wrap style garments, dyed to match with their surroundings and which are positioned on the body as to keep the wearer from getting scraped up as they climb; so, typically the chest, groin, and forearms are wrapped and protected, while the spaces between such as the abdomen, joints, biceps, legs, and tail are all left exposed for flexibility and ventilation. They are also known to craft light raingear from the waxy leaves found in the canopy during monsoon season, and often wear climbing harnesses under their wrappings which allows them to utilize their extensive zip-line networks quickly and easily.
Storage Capacity:
Backpacks and tailpacks are usually kept light to not slow them down when climbing, usually only carrying a small field stove with some rations, a triage kit, a water skin, and a handful of poison/antidote philes & darts for their hunting kit.
Protection:
Jungle Krii are fond of compact blowguns and small knives which they use for both hunting and self defense; darts can be tipped in a wide variety of toxins whose effects can range from powerful paralyzing anesthetics and pain-inducing peptides, to deadly neurotoxic poisons.
Swamp-
Clothing:
Coverings in Swamp Villages can vary in style but generally tend to focus on stealth as not to alert their hungry neighbors; long, draping, noise-canceling fabrics dyed in dark, non-uv reactive colors, with cowls and spooky masks being fairly commonplace, worn to hide their brightly colored faces while still allowing for some unique individual flare.
Storage:
Backpacks and tailpacks are typically stuffed full of ammunition and trap-making gear, stowed alongside a couple of field rations and a moderately sized water skin. Usually dyed in the same dark colors, and made of the same sound-dampening fabrics as the rest of their clothing.
Protection:
Swamp Krii are fond of compact crossbows which fire short bolts made from venomous vashi-quills, propelling them with enough force to pierce the chitenous armor of their giant insect quarry; these clans esteemed for their pin-point accuracy, as well as their ability to quickly reload and fire in rapid succession while moving between hiding spots.
Mangrove-
Clothing:
In the Mangrove villages one must always be ready to swim, and thus clothing comes one of two ways; either wearing nothing but waterproof body paints, or loosely wrapped colorful cloths bound stylishly with quick-release clasps. These Krii are also quite fond of Radioluminescent Tattoos which often mark their bodies in stripes and spots made up of tiny pinpoints of faint blue light which shimmer as they move about; many elders will tell you that these tattoos work as lures, for both fish, and for mates…
Storage:
Mangrove Krii rarely leave their settlements to go ashore, precluding the need for extensive travel gear; tailpacks are almost never worn, often replaced with a wicker or netted fish-basket to hold their quarry. Backpacks are replaced by simple shoulder bags which often contain little more than some basic fishing gear, a pack lunch, and a small waterskin.
Protection:
Coastal villages rarely fight, and predators are few and far between, nevertheless they do still posess some ornate weapons hailing from a more ancient time, primarily consisting of highly decorated wooden warclubs and spears which utilize the razor sharp teeth of large predatory fishes as interchangeable points.
The base models for the mannequins are derrived from the silhouette of the ref-sheet done for me by BeraCerbera (with permission)
