Well I'm packing my bags getting ready to leave for a while. Ive got the important things packed, my binkie and grub. I dont really need clothes and stuff really...
pointed me towards a proper version of Sai and a tutorial and well...this is my first proper step into using Sai.
I feel awkward and clunky using it in comparison to GIMP but thats because im used to GIMP and havent touched sai before. Its all soo fiddly but im sure with some practice i might be able to get good with it.
This picture reminds me of the time I ran away from home I was about 6. I packed some toys and some biscuits and walked for a very long time. I must have been gone for hours because my parents had organised a search party with lots of other adults to try and find me. I got seriously spanked when I was found. LOL I must have worried my parents sick. I was found in a field with no socks on, feeding bulls with grass.

If there's any reason I want to use Sai and a tablet is for those super smooooooth lines! Like the ones you have here.
Did you begin drawing on paper or did you go right to tablet? And if you went from paper to tablet, how did you make the transition?
I have a tablet collecting dust, cause when I tried to use it, everything comes out squiggly. :C

This was drawn straight onto tablet. I must admit my previous tablet was a bit squiggly but this new one is a better quality tablet so it does smoother lines yoo can see a strange jump in quality in june in my gallery where one day I had one tablet then the next day I had a new one and instantly my work got smoother.
I used GIMP a lot before but I absolutely, positively prefer SAI for artwork. It loads faster, the brushes are more natural, and working with the frames is a breeze. It's just better tailored for artists. There are some features I wish it had... gradients and text, to name two examples. However, I look at their absence as a challenge to artists to improve their craft, to actually paint the gradients themselves.
But I'm babbling. Have fun on your trip to, uh, what were you doing again?
