Tales of a legendary creature have gone around for eons, a creature boasting great power that can redefine the planet and its inhabitants. The beast dwarfs the realm as it consumes the very stars to- Oh wait, that's the wrong story.
This is Staypuft... a balloon dragon?
Staypuft started out as a smaller-than-average dragon, very little in mass or structure, living among the mountains with a pack. She didn't have any wings to get around more easily like others. Being so tiny and limited made things pretty difficult for her to enjoy life as she'd like. So... the little critter tried to change that.
It started with a few stretches that were possible for her to do, but her height has changed... though she was left pretty sore afterwards. She attempted to eat a little extra, which just resulted in her feeling stuffed and heavy. The little dragon went for the next best thing... Magic. The problem there... she isn't a bookworm. Staypuft had no understanding of how any of it worked other than pure imagination... so it should work out!
Staypuft attempted to find anyone that fit the bill... or anything. So she sat on the cliff one night and looked up at the starry sky, admiring its beauty. She watched a comet soar through the night and closed her eyes, thinking deeply. She yearned to be able become larger.. huger... enormous,.. Just to be able to become the biggest dragon her people have ever seen. She would feel strange for a moment and looked down to see... she was expanding! The little dragon grew and grew... able to grow wider and taller than any of her peers... in fact, she was getting too massive. The cliff she stood on seemed tiny... and eventually she would be dwarfing a mountain... looming over the whole area in minutes. She'd be so happy about what she achieved...
And then she'd tell you it was some 'wish' ful thinking.
No one has a clear idea of how Staypuft became the way she is, and she isn't a reliable narrator in that regard. The dragon didn't care for that; what matters is the present. She's a balloon dragon, as one can tell from how squeaky she looks and the balloon knot on the end of her tail. Staypuft is filled with her own special brand of helium she produces and releases whenever she wishes. Despite her large appearance, this means she is fairly light. Naturally, as a balloon derg, she is very inflatable and can blow up in any fashion she wishes, be it from making her tail bigger, her feet puffier, or having her round tummy be even wider. Is there a limit to this? Not really... she has inflated herself enough to dwarf planets and fill galaxies... which she doesn't mind but gets bored with... and space tends to be pretty cold. It should be noted... she does love to fill others up with her special gas.
The balloon derg has an ability that allows her to sense those nearby who have a desire to be ballooned. She'll approach them and offer to satisfy their need either with a quick kiss and a puff that'll fill them out or one of her specialty balloons. What matters is the balloon dragon giving them what they want to look like afterwards, be it an orb or a pear like herself. Staypuft is happy to spread the balloony joy to others!
But one fair warning... she does tend to make puns. Whether it be inflating her nose just to 'sniff' for trouble or ballooning her stompers to add a bit more 'bounce' to her step, you can expect a cheesy line that might make you giggle... or groan in annoyance.
