So, I’ve finally watched some Rudolph movies this Christmas, or at least on Christmas Eve since I had nothing better to do that day. I’ve watched the original special by Rankin Bass, and also the 1998 movie by GoodTimes. And even though I did like the original Rankin Bass special, I personally think the movie by GoodTimes is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a while, and it definitely has a lot of charm despite unfortunately being a box office failure. And man, Rudolph’s design in the 1998 GoodTimes film is definitely my favorite design for Rudolph. Sure, the design from the Rankin Bass one was good too, but the 1998 GoodTimes design takes it up a notch and gave Rudolph some hair, and well, a much better design overall in my opinion. Oh, and of course I drew Slyly the Fox for this as well, which is another pretty good character from the 1998 GoodTimes film.
I gotta admit, I really cooked with the shading and background here, even if Rudolph and Slyly are doing their stock poses that were seen on the movie’s cover. And honestly? Even after Christmas is all done and over with, I’d still like to try and rewatch this movie a second time whenever I’m not busy. And heck, I might consider making more fanart from it, too! But yeah, this will be my last Christmas art piece for this year.

Aaaahhhh the classic. While I have watched the 1964 movie nearly 300 times already, and the 2001 weird movie only 3 times, this movie I've seen about 10 times, and it's quite a movie to say the least. A mix of 2d and 3d animation, but mostly 2d animation to say the least, and quite an underrated christmas movie that, sadly suffers from the plot being, well, sort of messy and not well put together, but the characters and the way it's presented, pretty good. Though Rudolph's lady is much more strange compared to Clarice from the 1964 Rankin Bass movie if you ask me.
Bur don't get me wrong, the designs for these characters reminds me a ton of "Wakko's Wish" from the animaniacs and warner brothers. It has that same, wacky cartoon design, but done in a way that actually looks decent. And of course, this movie has Paul McCartney's "Wonderful Christmastime" song included in its soundtrack and movie.
As for this artwork, despite the proportions being a bit thicker than the actual characters, you did pretty well emulating the artstyle from the 1998 movie. Though I think they would have to be thinner in order to match the style of the movie if you ask me.

My proportions are usually off sometimes but yeah. I was mainly trying to go for my own art style at the same time, but it’s nice that it also sorta matches the art style of the movie. I know I usually use a 6 pixel or 8 pixel brush in ibisPaint X when making art (6 pixel brush in this case), but if it was a 4 pixel brush, it would probably match the art style a little more.
But yeah, I’ll admit the movie is a bit messy in terms of the plot, and it honestly felt quite short to me even if it’s an hour and 30 minutes or so, but I still really enjoy the character designs! Especially Rudolph himself.

Yeah, that's the only thing I mentioned about your artwork, but besides that, you captured it quite well.
I mean, even if the brush size you use to draw the characters was small, it still looked nice.
That's how I felt too upon watching the movie, I found it to be okay too. But there were definitely parts of the movie I did like, others not so much. Show Me The Light song from that soundtrack is still my favorite version of that song.

Yeah, the best parts of the movie is honestly the characters and especially the music. Though, I can’t help but hear Wonderful Christmastime without thinking of the movie now. And Show Me The Light is definitely one of the best songs in the movie, or probably more specifically, the soundtrack from the movie.
Yeah. Again, I've seen all three of the Rudolph movies (The 2001 Rudolph movie, with the giant female hippo queen, that movie is something else. Though the "Keep Your Chin Up" song from that film is a decent song if you ask me).
Hahahahaha, yeah, that's funny you mention that, because I think of both that movie, and the music video of that song. Ohhh, Show me the light man, what a beautiful song if you ask me (just as good as "Somewhere Out There" from the "An American Tail" soundtrack). And yeah, the characters and the music are the two best ones. Though again, the 1964 movie is definitely better, but the 1998 film is underrated on my end as well. It's actually pretty nice despite the story if you think about it.
