In trying to make 2 different kinds of fudge this year, I made the mistake of substituting sweetened condensed milk for evaporated milk thinking that they were the same thing. How horribly wrong I was as I basically just made chocolate slime... So to salvage it, I turned it into rice Krispy treats and they turned out really good! Mistakes into tasty treats for the holidays!
What You'll Need:
-1/2 a bag of marshmallows
-1 can of sweetened condensed milk
-1 stick of butter (1/2 cup)
-1 tablespoon vanilla extract
-12 ounces semi sweet chocolate chips
-1 cup of peanut M&M's
-holiday sprinkles (I used fall ones because I had an overabundance, but it would have worked just as well with Christmas sprinkles)
-3 cups chocolate Rice Krispies
-3 cups chocolate honey bunches of oats
Step 1:
In a large sauce pan (a wok works best if you own one) stir together marshmallows and sweetened condensed milk until combined over low heat. Keep stirring to ensure the marshmallows don't burn.
Step 2:
Turn off heat. Add butter, chocolate and vanilla. Stir until completely melted and combined.
Step 3:
Add chocolate rice Krispies, chocolate honey bunches of oats and M&M's. Gently fold together with a spatula until well combined.
Step 4:
Pour into cooking sprayed baking dish, pressing down to pack it in as flat as it will go. Top with festive sprinkles.
Step 5:
Refrigerate for at least 4 hours and enjoy.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays!!
