Santa Claus’s reindeer are such an interesting piece of pop culture. They’re mostly ordinary-looking reindeer, but they fly by running, which sounds like video-game fantasy logic before video games were invented. And there’s eight of them and everybody knows their names because a guy made them up for a poem, but there’s also this extra reindeer OC made by a different writer at a later point, and most people just accept him as a staple of the Santaverse. And this 6th ranger— i mean, 9th reindeer has a distinct visual design, and a backstory, and a special role within the sleighteam, but all of the other reindeer are a complete blank slate and nothing about them has caught on between adaptations.
