I was looking through my old doodles and found these, drawn over the course of last year. Fun times.

Dunno if I should follow the link. Looks sketchy. *shot*
Awe...we don't get to see the finished product of the mechanical raptor? It looks really cool..
Lol @ Toothless not belonging in your drama crew. HE TOTALLY SHOULD BE
There is a side portrait of a man, it's the second face down from MOAR RANDOM. Is that an established character from some thing? I ask because I think I've seen him somewhere before.

Mostly, yeah. XD
Well, I could scan Matilda sometime maybe. I think it's actually going to be in an art show soon, so I left it with my professor. I'd have to either scan it in bits and repiece it together, or take a photo with like, a cellphone. XD
Hahaha, I actually saw the second marker girl down today for the first time this year, and greeted her with "NIGHT FURY", to which she of course responded, "GET DOWN!"
These folks know me too well. XD
I went to a thespian club dance dressed as a Night Fury once... so we almost do have one in the gang. XD
I don't think that sketch was meant to be anything in particular, though I'm highly inspired/influenced by a lot of very specific sources aside from HTTYD, including the various styles Legend of Zelda went through, anime, campy old-style American comics such as Superman, and the semi-Greek influenced stylization of Disney's Hercules. To name a few that I've noticed anyhow.
I actually like playing around with the dynamics of manly man faces like that for some reason, so there's a lot of 'em.

It's not so important. But normally when I see androids/robots and stuff, it's more of a cosmetic thing. People put bolts on them, replace appendages and/or extremities with metal, give them glowing eyes and hinge jaws, etc. But with yours well...there's hydraulics with actual leverage to lift and lower body parts, and the feet and head/neck look kind of crude but substantial, like they're designed for functionality not aesthetics. I don't know. It just looked like a legit robot more than a lot of what I have come across, so it drew my interest. But you said it was an old sketch, and I wouldn't have expected you to somehow magically obtain a larger version of it.
Haha they are starting to learn and anticipate your behavior. Watch yourself.
Toothless cosplay? Nice. XD
When you say you were influenced by a style, is it because you were drawing stuff from that universe or because you liked the style and wanted to apply it to your own ideas?

Yeah, I racked my brains trying to get her to look functional! I even looked up types of mechanical claws and stuff. XD That's part of why I have so much trouble coming up with stuff like that;' it often takes more than aesthetics alone for me to be satisfied with it. And I'm not great at inorganic objects in the first place. I was really proud of that project since it was quite out of my comfort zone, and I put a lot into it.
If I reacquire that piece of art in the near future, I'll make a point to try to scan it or something for you guys. At least a piece of it, maybe. (here, it's just concept art for a completed piece that looked far better)
Yeah, they know me too well. XD
Well, I was joining the International Thespian Society, and one of the requirements was that I wear a silly hat they made for me for a week, and knowing me, they made me a Night Fury. XD
For HTTYD and Zelda, and a little anime, I was actively drawing characters from those universes. A lot of the times though, I just see things other artists do and try to apply them to my work.

I don't have much to add here. >.>
Please do. Even a picture with a shitty phone camera would be better than nothing, technically. XD
Haha. Doesn't seem to fit the theme of embarrassing initiation rights, but whatever.
That's good. Learning from other people's experiments is faster than conducting your own. Though in the science community, they repeat each other's experiments anyway. So maybe you want to disregard this comment.

I'm attempting to repiece her together out of cellphone pictures, but the phone reception here sucks so it might be awhile before I can get them all on my computer.
And I'm sleepy right now for some reason.
Hahaha, in art, unless you're a genius, you can never perfectly replicate someone else's experiment. You just... experiment with their experiments. I guess. XD
