Tribute to Jingles the dog (The Blue Arrow)
In 1992 a little animation studio called Lanterna Magica (magic lamp), that previously made animated spots and PSAs for the young kids, decided it was time to start producing feature lenght movies, and so it picked one of the most best-known books from the famous author Gianni Rodari, The Blue Arrow, and in 4 years it adapted it (the movie has the same name of the book). It tells the story of a group of toys made by a good witch (the so-called Befana) for the kids of Italy, that however one year see the shop they lived in getting taken over by the evil and greedy Mr. Grimm, that plans to sell them to rich families completely disregarding poor but good of heart kids (before he came the Befana handed them for free). So they decide to run from the shop and give themselves to Christopher, that was refused an expensive toy train (the blue arrow of the title) since it reminds him of his deceased father. While I think it's nowhere near perfect, I still think it's a greatly enjoyable movie and I still rewatch its scenes for the great art, the cute story and great emotions conveyed. Between all its characters, my favorite is hands down Jingles the stuffed dog. He's just so adorable (both in appearence and character) and you only grow fond of him as his character ark unveils. So I decided to make a tribute drawing to him. While the colors aren't perfect (the actual movie Jingles is much lighter) I think I managed to come up with something cute, and that's all it mattered to me 🥰
