It should be me.
This is the rat I've been waiting for for about 10 years.
This is Chuckie, one of my new babies. He is a black blazed Berkshire, or 'badger' rat. These seem to be quite rare, and I had my first, and last two, many years ago. Ever since then, I've wanted another, and ideally in black.
If anyone asked what my dream rat was, the answer was a black blazed berkshire.
A breeder friend had some, and she let me have this little lad.
He's 6 weeks old, and a complete softy, needs lots of love.
He even has a little half-coloured tail. Im in love with him. I finally have a 'ziggy' rat in my family!

Its entirely possible. Any colour you can get as a 'self' colour, you can get with a blaze.
There are a few people out there who try and sell huskies as being 'blazed' rats, or 'badger' rats because when huskies are babies, they can have very dark markings, and look similar to the untrained eye.
But the buyer soon finds out 2 months later when the colour starts to fade out that its a roan and not a badger!

Oh, he's adorable.
I love when they have two-tone tails.
Its the only way I can tell my boys apart without flipping them over to check the white on their bellies. One has a pink-tipped tail, the other has a solid brown tail.
How do you get good pictures of rats...mine never sit still long enough. >_<

Blazed berkshire (or badger, whichever you prefer)
Variberk isn't actually a 'real' variety, its more a term made up to describe a mismarked hoody or berkshire.
Variberk is not a standardised variety, and there is no class for them at shows. You can show a variegated, but not a variberk, as it isn't a real variety.
See here:

These are the marked varieties that you can show. Anything not on there isn't standardised.
Chuckie is what we call a blazed Berkshire (or badger), as in, he is a Berkshire (white socks and belly) but with a blaze.
Ok, he isn't a particularly 'good' one, and wouldn't do well in shows (he has a 'drag' up his side, and his blaze is squiggly at the top too, as well as wonky round his cheeks) but I've rarely seen a truly stunning badger; most have iffy markings of some kind. Like hoodies, its hard to get a really 'perfect' one.
The lady who bred him is one of the few people in this country actually breeding badgers. But Im not showing him, so I don't mind if he's not 'perfect'. He's perfect to me :)
