And he's going to be relevant to Lich and Kress's canon
So from what I got about this critter, his species is a mix of the spikes on him and a type of bacteria which feeds on oil (Alcanivorax), his design being inspired by oil slicks. The species comes from mashing the two things together to be Spinovorax.
