What he is suggesting in this page is that it is actually more cruel for Pai to continue living rather than to die. He is suffering, and freedom won't afford him any more comfort. Quite the opposite, actually. He's suggesting that Pai is better off dead.

.... ; _; That is the first time I've seen Pai smile. I honestly think Nine is the best thing that happened to him. He's given him hope that he's going to, one day, be free. Maybe not able to go out and live, but he'll be free of the pain, free of the humiliation; free of the glop.

It is his first smile :) I think he's more relieved than anything at this point. There's finally an end in sight after years and years of suffering and monotony.
Aww, thank you ducky. I'm glad you like it so much. Never fear, we have no intention what-so-ever of stopping. In fact I'm really seriously considering getting an Asus EP121 so I can draw Grayscale while on the go (it's a portable tablet slate thing...).

Poor, poor Pai. Although, I'm in agreement with Nine here, it's probably nicer to kill him then to continue letting the poor guy live...

On a more pleasant note - I adore these comics! Nine is definitely my favourite so far, his eyes are gorgeous and I love his character (of course Dice is pretty awesome too), really, really looking forward to more!

Thank you! I'm glad you love the characters. I'm sure both characters will grow on you... they've sorta overtaken my brain. They evolve a lot throughout the story anyway, I'm looking forward to drawing it all out.

No, it's more of an artistic interpretation of eyes so sunken you can't really see them, just dark shadows XP We make lots of jokes about them though.
