This was drawn right after the episode Starlight Glimmer was first introduced in where she pretty much used communist-based tactics on an entire town by trying to equalize everyone (no, I don't say "everypony" despite it's creative phrasing"). The townsfolk had creepy smiles from the brainwashing. There was a scene in there where Starlight captured all six of the girls and forced them all to go into a brainwashing room (there's another term for this, but forgot it), making them hear an intercom that played a brainwashing message over and over until they gave in which they resisted. They eventually defeated her and saved everyone from her control and returned all of their cutie marks. I wanted to make an alternate ending to instead show the intercom fully brainwashing and equalizing the Mane 6 under Starlight's control where she succeeded in keeping all of their cutie marks, thus making them part of her town.
