I grew up as a kid to my teens playing a lot of rpgs with the usual male protagonist that's chosen to go on long journeys to save the world and such with a cast of party members or they would usually go solo. One particular game that's really old, like PS2 era old is called Samurai Legend: Musashi. I got so inspired by the MC's character's design that I wanted to draw a similar picture of him.
