Full Name: Mariel Maple
Gender: Female
Age: 63
Species: Pachyrhinosaurus canadensis
:Personality:
As the owner of Dino Digs Daycare, Mrs. Maple has always enjoyed the company of children! Having started this daycare over ten years ago, after the loss of her husband who was killed in action during a war twenty years ago.
She's shown to be very Kind, Loving, and Supportive individual, with incredible patience and an ability to keep calm even in truly tough situations, all while never losing her temper. It seems like there's no kid too rowdy which she's unable to handle, even the most foul tempered of kids like Brittany, is unable to faze her
Being a former logistics worker in the military, Mrs. Maple has transferred many of her skills over when it comes to running her daycare. Often planning several steps ahead, considering potential faults that could happen and how to prepare for them. Due to this, she is incredible at keeping track of the daycare's stock and supplies, and will always have a backup or spare of something if anything ever goes wrong such as a delivery fault. Even having a backup generator, and emergency supplies of food and water in the event of a REALLY bad disaster such as a large storm which traps everyone within the daycare's walls.
Thanks to her knowledge and capabilities of prepping ahead, the daycare has never truly encountered a single fault or failure that wasn't fixed in less than an hour. Nothing goes uncounted for when she's doing the books!
Although despite running a daycare, Mrs. Maple would often feel lonely at the end of the day when everyone else went home. And it often felt surreal and rather uncanny to see the large and lively daycare almost completely barren on the weekends... So, perhaps looking to have more personal company, Mrs. Maple returned to that old orphanage she spent time helping, during that war nearly twenty years ago, in hopes of adopting a child down on their luck she could maybe help raise for a better life.
:Meeting Lucy:
Upon arriving at the old orphanage, she found one. A poor five-year old Tupandactylus girl who lost her mother in a recent attack months ago on her village, its was believed by the orphanage that she might be the only surviving child of said attack, she hasn't had a very good life here either, often being harassed by a bunch of other kids for being too weak and cowardly at first, until she grew to fight back and was instead feared by all the other kids who now refused to play with her.
As she approached the pterosaur child sitting on the side of her bed, she spoke back, although it seemed as if she was struggling to introduce herself, an orphanage staff member quickly explained to Mrs. Maple that english wasn't her first language, but they've been teaching her to speak it, although Mrs. Maple knew of some of the girl's dialect, and was able to speak to her in her own language, much to the child's surprise, as the pterosaur responded.
The Pterosaur introduced herself as Lucinda, and must have felt immense relief to finally meet someone who knew what she was saying, turns out the reason she may have been picked on so much was because the kids couldn't understand her, and probably bullied her as a way of making her say more weird sounds, she couldn't understand what most of the kids said, but she knew from their tone that they were mocking her...
So she got into a lot of fights, whenever the kids would pick on her, she would lash back, but whenever an adult came in, those kids would play the victim, and say that she started beating them for no reason, while Lucy unable to explain the situation would often be punished in the process.
Mrs. Maple could only watch in pain as Lucy started tearing up... Afterwards, not wanting to get hurt, all the kids started to pick at her from a distance, calling her "Para is so stupid!" as "Pare isso!" was something she would often yell out whenever they harassed her. By this point, Lucy broke down in tears and began to cry, saying that she just wants her mother back...
After Mrs. Maple explained to the orphanage staff everything Lucy just told her, they mentioned that the language barrier was truly a problem, and despite their best efforts, they did struggle to communicate with her, even with translation tools, but they did eventually catch on to what was happening, and that no, the girl wasn't making anything she just said up...
This was truly awful! First the girl loses her home, then her mother, then she's bought to a place where no one can understand her, all while being beaten and bullied? Mrs. Maple couldn't stand to see this girl suffer anymore, and immediately asks if she could adopt Lucinda, as she deserves a much, much better life than everything that's happened to her thus far. They eventually agreed, and after signing her adoption papers, Lucy eventually returned with Mrs. Maple back to Dino Digs Daycare, giving her a nice, proper bedroom, preparing some of her best dishes for the girl to eat, giving her plenty of toys to play with, and comforting Lucy every night she had trouble falling asleep, or woke up from a bad nightmare. She was also essential when it it came to teaching Lucy the English language, being a bit more bilingual helped her translate it to the girl much more fluently.
Overall, Lucy has been much, much happier ever since moving in with Mrs. Maple, and as much as she loves her new guardian, Lucy is still deeply upset and clinging on to any memory she could of her past mother... As the new year approaches, Mrs. Maple hopes to introduce Lucy to the kids her age attending daycare, and hopes that she will start making some new friends as well!

Mrs. Maple has always had an interest in cooking, baking, and meal preparation! Having spent quite a lot in her life on the move while in the military, she took interest in many of the cuisines from her travels, and wanted to learn how to prepare most of them for herself!
While originally wanting to pursue a career as a head chef, ever since she met her husband and settled down with kids of her own, she felt the joy of raising her own kids, and later, her grandchildren. And after seeing so many kids having to suffer from wars and conflicts, along with the loss of her husband, Mrs. Maple would soon retire from the military and dedicate her life to starting a daycare in hopes of giving the kids attending a bright and happy future!
Mrs. Maple remains an incredible cook to this day, and would be the one to prepare most of the meals that would be served at the daycare! Having crafted a special menu, consisting of Vegetarian, Mixed, and Meat dishes for the many kids' dietary preferences. She also has a greenhouse on the second floor of the daycare, where she enjoys growing her own produce to use for many of her dishes!
:Notes:
I guess it was about time I showed off an adult in the series, so here's Mrs. Maple! The owner of Dino Digs Daycare and adoptive guardian of Lucy! I also think it was time I showed off how the kids scale compared to an adult, since a lot of the artwork doesn't give a good grasp of their proper sizes.
Not super sure if that will be her final frill pattern... but I'll just go with it for now.

I like to go with the 'not (name of real world country)' type of deal.
So Mrs. Maple is a not Canadian, from not Canada.
So yeah, fantasy counter part culture.
Dino Daycare was originally intended to take place in somewhere near San Francisco, but I changed it to Canada as I wanted a four season cycle.
