The glorious sun beamed overhead as Jack strode through the courtyard of Cherryton Academy. A fresh book tucked under his arm and a spring in his step. Soon, it would be summer break and he'd be free to connect with his friends on the outside. The boys of Room 701 were a delight and helped to get him through the days of term, and he had numerous other friends outside of that. Yet none of them could compare to the gentle giant that is Legosi. His closest and oldest friend and a recent dropout of Cherryton Academy. No rhyme, no reason, one minute he was running off in the dark of night bloodied and bruised, and the next he was no longer returning to Cherryton.

Jack missed him dearly. Every day he woke up in his bunk and climbed down the steps to see Legosi's face carved into the trim of the bed below. Feelings stirred up over breakfast as he thought about the times they shared, the jokes at breakfast, and the classes they took. As the days wore on, his desire to see Legosi again grew stronger until he was desperate to meet the wolf once more. Bask in that wolfen smell, feel the breeze from his wagging tail and stare up at his dorky expression. It was such a wholly unique feeling, one that couldn't be replicated no matter how hard he tried. He'd made friends with other wolves but there was always something that didn't sit right.

But now, he was a few days away from racing through the streets to Beast Apartments, pounding on Legosi's door and hugging him tighter than a vice cranked to full. But for now he had a great day, a good book, and a countdown to the best nights of his life. How could things get any better? He cracked open his book and took a seat in the courtyard, blissfully unaware of the chaotic growth ray whizzing by his feet. Gearing up to make his day oh so much better...
