Like many citizens, we believed this week would be one of the best. The great automotive event was set to begin this afternoon, and the streets were filled with tourists from all over the world. Children were thrilled to see their favorite drivers, and why deny it? we adults were proud that one of the top racers had been born right here in our own city. For a moment, we all forgot about the strange incidents that had been happening since the beginning of the year: people acting enraged, almost rabid; sudden attacks; unexplained fights; individuals collapsing in the middle of the street.

They told us it was nothing more than collective hysteria caused by this year’s extreme heat, that it was normal for tempers to flare when temperatures rose. And we… we were foolish enough to believe them.

And now here I am, hiding from my own partner, praying he doesn’t find me. I know what I have to do, but I don’t know if I have the strength of will to go through with it. We’re supposed to serve and protect the community… aren’t we?

I hadn't had a chance to share it on my profile, but I'm so happy about the support the original post received. It's undoubtedly an extraordinary piece by  misterfuchs I love the final result especially how he manages to convey the fear in my character and that instantly recognizable atmosphere of a Mexican city at night.
PS: Who is that character in the background? Hehe, it's a secret for now, but I can say it's a hyena.
