Lilian found a book in her random browsing through a bit of ruins. What better way to spend the evening than trying to replicate any spells she finds? Maybe not the best idea but she was curious. The first dozen pages were either faded too far or made no sense. A few of the words seemed legible enough though nothing to connect them to. With the sun setting and her silent friend looming over her shoulder, the witch almost wanted to try later but now that she had to impress her friend too? Best not keep Lletywr waiting. As she tried and attempted to work out what each page was struggling to convey, she could also see the skull of her friend inching closer each time she blinked.
Maybe she couldn't read most of the scribbles, though did Lletywr? When she tried to give more room for her spooky and shadow-formed friend to read, the skull merely stayed stoic. The bit of light in the sockets almost seemed as intrigued as they were confused. Poor gal.
Lilian sighed and recited a few more pages before finding one that was mostly intact. Perfect! She wondered idly how many other beastfolk had read through the old tome but her thoughts were cut shorts when the moment she finished her incantation there was a loud crack. Like deafening thunder, the empty halls echoed from the stone walls and floors. The witch's ears flattened to her head as she sat still until the book levitated and began to glow. She could feel the magic coursing through the air, flowing like a warm breeze against her fur. Her eyes began their purple glow as the magic moved within her and she felt it as if it were almost empowering. Lletywr stared at the spectacle as the book flapped and fluttered through pages in the non-existent wind.
Then, just like that, it was over. The book plopped to the floor with a loud clap as the warmth in the air dissipated. The two stared at the blank cover before Lily reached down and picked it up, fastening it to her belt. Whatever had happened wasn't the full spell but was certainly a start. Lletywr lay upon the cold floor, the skull waiting patiently for when they were going head back home as the witch finished securing things and finally picked her friend up.
"That was neat, right?!" she asked her silent companion before cradling Lletywr under her arm. "Maybe Nana can figure out what to do with it." Of course, little did she know, Emilia would rather stash the book away instead of letting curiosity attempt more readings. At least she had her spirits high before then.
