Two superhero characters I felt like designing after two of my favorite sea creatures.
A super fast-punching Mantis Shrimp, with the trinocular, incredibly advanced vision of it's species, and a sharp-shooting Pistol Shrimp. Wiki these guys if you don't know em, they're really awesome.
Mantis Shrimp don't take no crap from no one. I don't have any names or gender for them yet. Prolly both boys though I might make the Pistol Shrimp a girl HMM.
The Pistol Shrimp was easy to design but the Mantis I think took me over an hour of doodling to get an anthropomorphized design I was happy with. SHRIMP ARE WEIRD I CAN'T TELL WHAT'S GOING ON WITH THEM.

All I know is that they taste great with cocktail sauce.
If you're going to make Pistol Shrimp female, I'd suggest reading The Dark Knight Returns for pointers first. There's a female version of Robin in this comic who's armed with a slingshot, and she'd make a great influence on the character.

The mantis shrimp is poisonous.
Well, not all of them.
It depends on their diet.
Their diet depends on where they live.
Because they eat the locals.
about 85% of them live in places
containing the most deadly toxic
wildlife on the face of the Earth.
This includes but is not limited to...
pufferfish,
cone snails,
box jellyfish,
stonefish,
turkeyfish,
the only venomous species of seahorse,
the only venomous species of clam,
the only venomous species of seaweed,
the only venomous species of shark,
the only venomous species of stingray,
the only venomous species of seal,
and the god-damned komodo dragon.
Yes, they do also feed on the large predators,
because they typically eat animal corpses,
and in an area this toxic,
that's a regular occurrence.
Take a wild guess where I grew up.
