unstablebill, who you may know from a few of my art/story collaborations, just wanted a profile pic.It seemed like a simple request!
But I'm still practicing on the tablet. The irony is his car (the original Scion xB, somewhat modded) is quite boxy, and I have the most difficulty drawing straight lines @.@ So I took the time to try and get things extra-clean this time around. I mostly succeeded, I think. The flat-shaded car necessitated some flat shading on his character art as well.
As his name might imply, he's mostly German Shepherd, a bit of wolf, and I believe bits of smaller dogs mutted in there too. And yes, he wanted that expression!
Ironically this was a touch too large for a profile pic, so IMHO it loses a bit of detail at profile dimensions. This is a slightly larger size, at least.

The Rukus is actually the 2nd generation xB (states), or Toyota Corolla Rumion (Japan domestic market), or That Flat Bloated Piece Of Crap That No one Wants To Buy. Er, I sort of made that last one up.
I'm surprised Toyota bothered exporting the Rumion, since sales here are fairly pathetic and our gas is comparatively cheap as hell (and as wagons go it is fairly thirsty). The first-gen xB was a lot closer to the 5-door Yaris than the Rukus...I guess they wanted wagon variant on the Corolla.
Not that you asked. ;)

What I don't get is it's heavier than the corolla, uses more fuel due to using the camry motor we have here in Australia and is more expensive and they aim it at the young generation here. We did have a wagon variant on the last model corolla oddly enough and it sold quite well. I did a big rant about this before XD
yeah, it's a piece of crap. it's aimed at the kids here too (scion is a "youth brand") even though it runs $5K more than the corolla and gets way shittier gas mileage.
the ironic thing is, the original xB was comparable cost to the corolla (about $30 more a month) with far superior cool factor, and they f----g discontinued it in favor of its fat, gas-guzzling older sibling. even the xA was a hell of a lot more fun and came with more cool stuff. but the xD (xA replacement) and new xB are barely in the same vehicle class. gen 2 sales have sucked from day one, whereas I waited WEEKS for my xB1...there were two in stock the day I called, and someone bought the other one while I was on my way to the dealer.
frankly i have doubts that scion is going to continue to exist in this country unless their next car SERIOUSLY knocks it out of the park. toyota has indicated they're giving us the iQ, but they also indicated at one time that 2010 would be the last fake-xB model year, too 9_9
i know what you're talking about - here it was sold as the Corolla Matrix, came in AWD only, got hideous mileage, ran about $10,000 more than the same-sized "do-we-really-need-AWD-anyway-we-live-in-a-city-for-fuck's-sake" xA's for sale 30 feet away (in some cases, LITERALLY TWICE AS MUCH), and I don't think I've ever seen a single one, at all, ever, other than on a Toyota lot. :3
. . . OMG THAT'S IT. THEY'RE SENDING YOU OUR REJECT CARS. @_@ nuuuuuuuu!

Hehe actually they sold the little wagon as front wheel drive only here, we don't tend to get optioned up normal models, although Vince surprised me by telling me the Lexus he bought was here first and in more colours and options o.O
Here's the last little corolla wagon we got, I wish we'd got the Caldina.

Straight lines on tablets can be a real pain to achieve, at first, depending on whether your nibs are textured and if your drawing program has a stabilizer. Despite all that, though, this came out mighty fine, and more than just a touch intimidating. (Boxy cars are just manlier and more threatening, somehow. Must be the lack of aerodynamics xD)
I *think* Art Rage has a stabilizer, but I don't like it much, it overcorrects. I think I just need to play around with the settings. ESPECIALLY the nibs, too many bloody options @.@
Thankee tho. And he LIKES looking intimidating.
Would stand to reason. Boxy men are manly too
