Grace Geoffroy's Cat practicing traveling on her leash and harness -- and telling her human that she's not entirely delighted with the prospect. Like many small (small small ... 6-8 lbs fully grown) cats, Grace doesn't find wide open outdoor spaces to feel very safe. Too many threats -- raptors, for example.
Not sure why I like this photo so much. But it does show off that Geoffroy wonder-tail! And it captures Gracie's attitude about the world beautifully, too.
There are only between 50-80 Geoffroy's in captivity in the United States, according to numbers published in this month's Feline Conservation Federation journal. ALL of those are in private facilities, so you won't see Geoffroy's in major AZA zoos. Two of them, Grace and her mate Vitor, visited furrydom last March at Furry Weekend Atlanta as ambassadors for the Center.
