Another hobby of mine, besides drawing and stabbing video game monsters to death, is cooking. I've been able to fend for myself in the kitchen since before I was old enough for school, my mother making sure I was capable of feeding myself early on, and have since found its a very fun and creative thing to do with my time...
... but when I cook for myself I spice my food up good and hot. Having grown up eating at restaurants like Skyline Chili I have a high tolerance for spicy and I judge a meal by how many of my fillings it melted... which makes it hard to cook for others sometimes as my mate, Lexi, doesn't like spicy at all.
If anyone is wondering, I'm making Rotini with Spicy Red Sauce and Sausage in that drawing. Its one of the first recipes I learned and I can make it in my sleep.
The recipe is as follows:
1 box Rotini pasta
1 polish kelbasa sausage
1 can Tomato Sauce
Ketchup
Hot sauce of your choice (I use Kroger's store brand or Frank's Red Hot Original)
Powdered Garlic
Powdered Red Pepper
Crushed Basil Leaves
Worcestershire sauce
1 packet of low-cal sweetner (or 1/2 tablespoon sugar).
First, fill a large pot about 2/3rds with water, adding a small amount of cooking oil and start it boiling.
While waiting for water to boil cut the sausage up into small pieces about 1cm thick and fry on high heat in large saucepan until lightly browned. Do NOT drain the fat from the pan.
Once sausage is browned reduce heat to low and add tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, Red Pepper, hot sauce, Garlic Powder, sweetner, and basil leaves to taste (I don't have any real measurements. I just keep trying it until it tastes 'right'). Stir and raise heat to medium, let simmer and stir occasionally (about every three minutes or so) to keep it from burning.
Boil Rotini until tender, then drain water and add sauce and meat to the pot. Stir and serve.
If leftovers are refridgerated they can last for up to two weeks.
