♪ Is it a kind of shadow reaching into the night, wandering over the hills unseen or is it a dream? ♪
Before him, laid to waste amongst the demolished buildings littering the area, towers broke the skyline, reminding anyone of their former dominance like a scarlet rot, a stain in the minds of the victors - still to this day - the ruins of the rabbits kingdom stood. Though they be ransacked, eliminated, reduced to a memory of a memory, the last whisper of a species' former glory lingered like a cold sound in the air. Ghostly winds were said to haunt the battle field, echoing in eternity.
The Rabbits had once been innumerous - nimble, agile - everything you'd associate with bun-kind. Yet for them, the rule over earth had been quelled in utter defeat. Human, demon, and all sorts of beast from the animal-kingdom had joined forces to eradicate the rabbits hold on humanity. A bitter war arose in a one-sided stomp as several nations united against such legions of rabbits until there was nothing left - or so they thought.

The Black Rabbit of Inlé loomed in the sky, a spiritual presence, the death-god of all rabbits, whose name was whispered only in fear or reverence. Towering and silent, his form shimmered like smoke and moonlight, rising above the carnage. It is said in the folklore that he lives in a warren of stone on earth, inhabited by dead rabbits and filled with disease, death, and sadness beyond imagining.
Osiris, the last of his line, was no stranger to fate, for fate was what but that we could make ourselves. Nay a prophecy, nay some will of Frith. So it was his belief, so it would be the belief of all rabbits yet to come. Osiris was - unbeknownst to himself - the next pawn in a long line of spiritual warfare that the gods played here on earth. Another in a long line of Owsla, and their Owsla, and their Owsla, and all those that came before him. Yet, Osiris was different, the last Liege of the Rabbits - he did not seek glory, nor did he walk alone on the path towards vengeance, a warriors spirit within, risen on the teachings of the Light, Frith. Risen on the teachings of Death, Inlé. Owed in his service, El-ahrairah. He was tempered by all that had been and gone. Sorrow. Sharpened by memory. Forged in the silence that follows grief. He had come from the hollowest hovel, the brightest burrow - the fallen kingdom of the Rabbits.
The wind howled low across the field, as if to draw the sharp hearing of a rabbit's ire. 'Look up, look up to the skies' it whispered. Inlé turned his head, and though his eyes were blind, Osiris felt them upon him. The journey was far from over, he rode now, not just to avenge, but to restore.
