I had a fairly new character that I wanted to post for Artfight so I put together a reference sheet. It doesn’t exactly convey what I envisioned but hopefully it gets the gist across at least.
Dino (DEE - noh, not DIE-noh) is a comfort character for me. As a child, I was obsessed with dinosaurs. I’d memorized all the families and species, etc. I’d change on a weekly or monthly basis what my favorite dinosaur was.
I confess that because there have been a lot of changes and updates, I don’t know or remember them all at this point. Some species we thought were separate turned out to be juvenile vs mature forms, some were misclassified altogether etc. This all makes it even harder now to pick a favorite, even if I just pick from my active rotation of known favorites as a kid. My ADHD also makes it difficult to make decisions. As a result, I didn’t pick a specific species for Dino.
Dino is not a specific species or gender. He/they/she/it can be drawn as any species of dinosaur from any era. Any style from hyper realistic, cartoony, plushie, etc are valid, so long as it is kept G-rated. His rainbow accents (the spikes and scutes etc) are key to his character, but don’t always need to be as both of those specific attributes - I designed him to be fun to draw as well as joyful and fun for me to see and create content of.
Dino should never be drawn in any sexual, violent, gory, suggestive, explicit, or otherwise mature artwork. Theming should stay rated G only.
