I got bored a couple days ago so I decided to do a quick (just around 1 hour) concept sketch of one of the characters from my ongoing writing project. It's my first proper thing on paper in about 3 years, since I moved my workflow completely to (mouse-drawn!) digital after running out of art paper in July of 2022 and not being bothered to go get more during the great coof. Interestingly, my pencil art skills haven't degraded really at all in the last 3 years, if anything they've actually improved a little (meanwhile I forget how to draw and need to relearn every time I do a new mouse piece). Compared to the aforementioned mouse the speed of drawing is definitely significantly sped up (such a sketch would take several hours with my digital process), though the nature of paper means I can't easily (or at least can't be bothered to) correct any mistakes I notice later (just don't flip it).

The character pictured is beta-reader fan-favorite Socks Mewham, pictured in what is to some extent or another a "work" outfit. The friendly, if a little frazzled, cheetah is one of the main interactible characters for the Cate route tree, and works as a senior organic chemist in one of Cate's chemical weapon labs (deadly neurotoxin, anyone?)

Monochrome pencil sketch of some form of rather generic spotted large felid (I at least [i/]tried[i] to reference a king cheetah, even if it didn't really work out). They have slightly crooked round glasses, and are wearing a lab coat on top of a generic band T-shirt and a pair of jeans. On their left wrist is a really badly drawn representation of one of those HP calculator watches.

Drawn on paper in 1 hour using 0.5mm 2B lead in a Pentel Energize mechanical pencil.
