Took some pics of my new western outfit and figured I'd share. Two nice finds:
* The hat is a Stetson Stallion, which I received secondhand for free.
* The boots (what you can see of them) are from Sanders, and were hand-crafted in Mexico.
What do you think?

Being concerned for your friends is no problem at all. Slow I don't mind, and overheated is an issue down here anyway. As for diabetes, I check regularly, and no sign of it so far.
For me, it's not particularly burdensome to be fat. (shrug) I know it's different for other people. My body just seems better able to take it than most.

Knee damage, ankle damage, heart strain... My mother's been overweight pretty much her whole life, and she just had one knee fully replaced. An agonizing operation, especially since she's allergic to narcotics. Which is pretty much -all- painkillers worth talking about for that kind of pain. She needed both replaced, but she couldn't be off her feet that long, and her doctor refused to replace both at the same time, anyway, with her painkiller allergies. After the operation, her doctor said her knee joint was at least 20 years older than the rest of her body. She's spent the last six months recovering, and it's been a very hard recovery. Seeing her in pain like that makes the appeal of 'fatties' totally incomprehensible to me. Sorry.
Especially since I'm 33, 50 pounds overweight, and my -own- knees are starting to hurt.

I understand, believe me. But I am not you.
To begin with, at 270 pounds I'm still fast enough to catch an escaping cat, and agile enough to keep him pinned by the neck until I can scoop him up. While I have the aches and pains attendant with having lived an active life, I don't have any unusual or additional ones... everything works, and works very well.
My heart works so well that my blood pressure normally rides the low end of normal -- to the point that I have to pump it up with caffeine before donating blood. I can still walk miles without rest, and without breathing heavily. My cholesterol, while not spectacular, is decent... I show absolutely no signs of cardiac issues, nor of hypertension.
And while my feet are rather tender right now, that's directly attributable to the boots -- as long as I wear walking-around shoes, I don't even get that.
(shrug) I'm different. Provably, reliably different. I can afford to be heavier, and I quite like it.
I'm very sorry for your mother, and I quite understand... but my situation is neither yours nor hers. I am an otherwise healthy fatty who happens to enjoy being such.
