This spooky and cool art was made by the lovely
iliaa! The monster they made for this is so spooky and they absolutely nailed the resident evil-esque feel I was wanting it to have ^w^
Please favorite their post of this here: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/62925176/I should have had this posted a LONG time ago, but just like for Cassie's ref sheet... procrastination struck again...
"Shhh, stay quiet. It's listening for us..." Cassie whispered to Selkie, pistol raised in a careful waiting position. The monster stood silent, eerily silent. The entire time the two of them had been here, it was always making a distorted yelping laughter-like noise. Selkie, who had been unfortunate enough to run into the creature hours before Cassie arrived on the scene, had mentioned that the noise had changed. Its more animal-like guttural noises had slowly began to mimic the pitches and reverberation of her own voice as she bashed it to get away. A loud snort and chortle echoed through the air as the creature finally began to move further away from them. Suddenly, it began to bolt at an unnatural speed for its size towards something deeper into the ruined city it traversed. "... Looks like we have a moment to breathe. But lets keep our guards up and voices low, this thing seems to be learning." Cassie warned. Selkie, who had yet to say anything whilst waiting for the creature leave spoke up, "We need to kill it somehow Cassie. It'll cause even more havoc if it gets out now..." Cassie looked to Selkie, wanting to tell her she was being hysterical for that idea. They had bashed its skull in and put more than a dozen rounds into it, and yet that thing still stood. Before she could tell her to get ahold of herself, Selkie piped up. "I saw something in its chest just briefly last time we had to fight it off. it looked like a crystal, but it beat like a heart with many tiny tendons attached to it. Call it a fighter's intution, but I think that destroying that crystal may be the key to beating this thing. We just need to find a way to make a hole big enough to give us a chance."
Cassie and Selkie sat on Cassie's couch watching their performance unfold. The movie itself was made and directed by Rover, a friend to both and a cinematography student working on a horror type movie for his capstone project. Cassie watched herself in the movie, picking up on certain dialogue and movements that she needed to refine if she ever wanted to be a real horror actress. Meanwhile, Selkie's normally confident expression had turned to one of barely disguised horror. Cassie knew she disliked horror movies, but she always agreed to watch them to try and overcome this battle of fear she had. Gripped firmly in Selkie's arms was a couch pillow folding in on itself from the force of Selkie's grasp. Despite the enjoyment and studying of one and the horror and uncomfortablility of the other, the two continued to watch the movie to its end. Even Selkie had to agree, Rover had talent for making these types of horror movies, though she kinda wished they didn't.
