Felix was born as a regular cat anthro in a small village close to Lycksele in northern Sweden. His youth was rather unremarkable; at school he barely stood out, and he preferred to be on his own a lot of the time. He loved the endless forests of the region he grew up in, and didn't mind the cold and dark winters they had over there. But Felix was a quite active little guy, and loved sports, though even here, he was not close to what it took to become a professional athlete. He later joined the army as a way to put his skills to use. Even though his training was tough and exhausting, it brought him satisfaction at the end of the day. However, behind this veneer of a jock, he secretly had one hobby that most of his colleagues didn't know of: he secretly loved to play D&D. Only his closest friends knew, those who he would do sessions with together that went deep into the night.
But one day, this secret of him would take the forefront by a golden opportunity he got offered. Dalton Medical Technologies, a specialist in permanent transformations, had just opened an experimental treatment where volunteers become "designer creatures". The military saw that there may be some tactical useful applications of this technology, and it happened to be that Felix' wish would align with those opportunities. He had a big dream to become a Displacer Beast, with an extra pair of arms and a set of tentacles on his back. The experiment itself was a great success, giving him this new special body he wanted. However, he soon found that without knowing, he also inherited the Displacer Beast's signature magic trick to project themselves away from their real location, and he was unwittingly casting that spell. He only noticed when people were starting to look past him, and when he tried to draw attention that he was actually somewhere else, he realised what was going on. With the help of the local archmage as his teacher, he had been learning to control this projection illusion. Technically he can't "turn it off", but he can manipulate it that it projects it at his exact location. Though, when he loses focus too much, his projection drifts as well. Only when he sleeps or is unconscious, the illusion fades. Not shortly after his treatment, the chaos after K-Day began, and he actually used his projection skill to be bait and confuse enemies of the Kult to round them up, projecting himself into wall or underground, so the enemy didn't see him coming, or projecting himself way out in the open as a major distraction.
After things calmed down, he signed up for the Terran Fleet as a security officer. When he joined the Pioneer, he got the usual challenge from Louis to fight him in a duel, only to be quickly beaten by him, surprised the cyclops managed to land hits despite his Displacement magic. However, during that time, he replaced the ends of his tentacles with plugs, as they found them to be very useful neural interfaces, which he can use for several tools (weapons, scanners, cameras, welders, etc.). When plugged in, he can actually directly communicate with the ship's computer. But he loves to try out new tools for his tentacles.
Had this guy ready for a while, but I hadn't come up with a backstory for him yet. He's a fun mix of fantasy and sci-fi in this form. I hope to use him in stories later
