Some types of acrylic markers are matte, but there are also glossy ones and metallics β those are interesting. I don't like glossy markers, and I also don't know how to work with gouache. My acrylic markers are great to work with and really give a matte finish. If you're interested, I use the brand Languo. I actually have to apply several layers to make the art look good. Acrylic markers have gotten too expensive for me now, so I decided to learn digital. But honestly, traditional art just feels nicer to work with β it's more tactile and familiar to me
Gouache is challenging but it's able to provide these incredible quality of color, but is also challenging to master. If you use true gouache it also reactivates upon being wet again, which makes layering really challenging.
Acrylic gouache is an excellent medium as it has the matte qualities of traditional gouache but doesn't reactivate upon being dry. It's also typically cheaper than true gouache as well. I really recommend it.
I too prefer 'traditional' (wtf is it called that) and primarily work in oil. Idk how interested I am in painting furries in oils though.

Damn, I dream of working with gouache and oil paints someday. Mad respect to you for being able to use those materials. I used to work with dry and oil pastels β it's really satisfying. I'm not that great with watercolors, though. Honestly, I just wanna try out new art materials all the time.
And yeah, from what I understand, "traditional art" just means working on paper. At least that's how I got it β English isn't my first language.
By the way, I'd love to see some furry art done in oil by you. I'm really curious how that would look. I think I've seen a few furry artists paint with oil before β or at least I remember hearing about it
