The trouble with being the head of a magical library is -- well, quite a lot of things actually, but the main one is that you aren't actually immune to the effects of the books. If the Librarian opens the wrong large print book, he gets turned into a giant, same as anyone else. Or, should he encounter a rather mischievous book of 'short' stories, well, this will happen.
