This is an original character project of mine that I made that pays tribute to a helpful man we met in our first day in Bayeux, France back in September after we took the Eurostar from Great Britain, who assisted us in finding an open restaurant, portraying him as both human and an anthropomorphic jackal.
When we were searching for a restaurant to eat in Bayeux, most of them close early on Sundays. Then we stumbled upon a bar called Le St Malo where this man with a jovial, social, and helpful attitude showed me on my phone of a nearby restaurant that was still open called La Miette Dorée where they make great burgers and sandwiches. We went there twice during our time in Bayeux.
I like the outgoing personality of the man from Le St Malo as he felt like a character that I want to draw. And I think his accent interestingly sounded a bit Scottish. The jackal design was inspired by a couple characters from my friend
FreyFox/Mark Smith's webcomic, Incomplete Control.
I want to thank him for helping me and my parents find a great place to eat during our vacation.
These digital paintings are created and owned by me.
UPDATE: I just have been informed by Esther, the patron of Le St Malo, that the man we met, his name was Colin Taylor and he unfortunately passed away. She described he was a wonderful man with three children and that the post was heart warming.
RIP Colin. Thank you again and God bless.
