Its arrival was heralded by the loud buzzer that warned of the security door's imminent opening, just another precaution taken in a medium-risk facility such like the one Ashu worked at.
A heavy metal box was place in front of him, paperwork with a "highly confidential" stamp on it.
This had to be it. Ashu didn't think about it twice, he had it all planned out in his head already.
Once home, Ashu placed the box on top of his home-office desk, taking a long thoughtful look at it. It was full of birightly colored warning messages attempting to dissuade anyone in posession of it from opening it. He knew the risks.
Was he really going to do this? … He had to find out if the myths were true, if the artifact was even real in the first place. In the secure facilities, they would never allow him to even lay eyes on it, let alone leave it in his posession. He'd only been able to get a hold of its container by some stroke of luck, a fault in the system. This was a once in a lifetime chance. And he had to make a decision quickly… it wouldn't be long before they figured out he'd -
… BZZZZ! .. BZZZ!
His work phone vibrated loudly on the desk, showing an "incoming call" screen. Unknown. It was definitely them. Had they really caught onto him so soon?
That sprung him into action, there was no more time to waste. He began to unpack the box, ripping off tightly packed wrapping on it, careful not to shake the box too much in his rush.
His phone kept buzzing a few more times with that unknown caller. Finally he opened the box to gaze at the artifact inside, wrapped in layers of protective material, lodged in a tight foam inner casing. He stared dumbfounded for a second…. There it was. There WAS something inside this container after all.
BZZZ! He's phone went off again… this time the caller showed "Mercer" in the name. He HAD to answer this call.
His guts tensed as he reached over to answer, putting it on speaker. Immedeatly Eli's voice blurted from the device
"Agent Hound, what the FUCK do you think you're doing?? Have you any idea the SHITSTORM you've stirred up at the agency?!"
Ashu kept quiet for a moment, not sure what to say exactly. Eli was referring to him by his codename, fully in his professional role as the department head. What was there to say really? He was so close, they wouldn't arrive in time to stop him from inspecting it anyway.
"… Eli, I… I've opened the box…"
There was a a long pause on the other side, adible commotion going on in the background.
"you WHAT?!" Mercer blurted out, a mix of anger and panic in his voice.
Ashu paid no mind to Mercer's clear exasperation, he was expecting this call to go more or less this way whenever it would happen. He just didn't expect it to happen so soon, but it was just as well.
He disloged the wrapped object from the protective foam and began peeling it's layers, making an audible sound he assumed could be hear over the phone call.
"Agent Hound, I am directly ordering you to STOP whatever it is you're doing and bring back the artifact RIGHT NOW!" Mercer shouted over the phone, his voice slighty cutting out as he barked orders at him.
"I'm unwrapping it Mercer… I have to inspect it, hold it in my hands… I.. I have to" Ashu said.
It was out and unwrapped, clearly in view… it was real after all… It looked just like it had in the text books… and as described in myths. He almost couldn't belive he was here. Still, if the myths were TRUE… he had to be extremely careful.
"It … it's just like the stories described it… I can feel its power… it's… "
A long silence from the other side of the call. When Elias spoke again, his professional demeanor was entirely gone, the strong emotions from earlier entirely dissolved by awe and disbelief… He ocurred to Ashu then that, it was very likely even Mercer didn't know what was inside the box at all, and had only known very little, and what he know was by hearsay. The department's secrecy really was as good as they said.
"Ashu, is it.. What's it look like? Are you… are you able to hold it??!" Mercer asked, clearly wondering about the terrible consequences usually suffered from even coming into contact with this dangerous artifact.
Ashu, still quite focused on the the object and trying not to incite any adverse effects, he replied to Mercer. Little did he know, these would be the last words he would ever utter in his life.
"yeah… i think i can… ask for its favor… it hasn't…"
Commission concept i kind of just came up with in a few hours kind of on a whim. I figured I've not done any cursed object ideas here, so this is a first for snootie's weird transformation adventures! I like the difference between this and other stuff on my gallery, feels like it adds contrast with a bit more of a thriller feel rather than horny or silly ideas! really happy with the outcome, and a bit lengthier description to boot! this one really just burst out of my brain all of a sudden! sniff!
