Shahana was born long ago in a land that was far, far away from Africa. The land they inhabited was a vast forest that contained several different plants and animals, and it was there that Shahana lived with her sister Dalaja and her new mate, Gaurav. The small pride lived an idyllic existence in their forest home, but that all changed one day.
A group of log -tall, hairless ape-like creatures- entered the forest and captured several animals, which included Shahana and her small pride. They and the other captured animals were soon transported to a large floating thing that rested in a vast body of water, on their way to be taken to who knows where. For weeks, Shahana and her fellow captured lions sit inside of their floating prison, occasionally receiving slabs of meat from the log for them to eat. At some point during their journey, their floating prison entered some rough waters, causing several cages to slide across the floor and hit the walls hard, resulting in many of the animals escaping. Their floating prison had been caught in a bad storm, and amidst the chaos, several animals including Shahana fell into the ocean. Some are lost, but the ones that don't manage to survive the fierce waves and are eventually washed up at a nearby beach.
After drying themselves off, Shahana and her fellow survivors soon discover that the place they ended up at was much different from their respective lands of origin. She is amazed by all the different plants and animals that they come across, many of which were a lot different from those in her homeland. Her pregnant sister Dalaja gives birth to a son named Mahaan shortly after their arrival, but not long after he is weaned, her sister and brother-in-law are sadly lost in quick succession, Dalaja having died from an illness and Gaurav being killed by a prey animal he attempted to take down. Shahana is now tasked with caring for her orphaned nephew, and with the death of Gaurav, the small pride was now without a male to breed new members. Shahana concludes that if they were to survive, they must search the land in the hopes of finding new lions to breed with.
Their search leads them to discovering the Night Pride, a family of lions that made their home around a magnificent tree, who are more than willing to take them in. Shahana and her fellow foreigners introduce them to the language and culture of their former home, while they in turn learn the ways of their new pride. Shahana chooses to learn about the local plants and herbs and their various abilities, and she soon finds her niche in the Night Pride as a healer. Shahana raises Mahaan to be a very kind lion, almost viewing him like an actual son, and she is more than proud of him when he later becomes the Night Pride's new monarch alongside his mate, Sarani. Shahana believed that her nephew and his new mate would live long and happy lives together, but things soon went downhill after the birth of their three cubs.
Sarani is killed in what appeared to be a rogue attack, and Mahaan is lost not long after. Mahaan's cubs disappear following his death, and his brother-in-law Kingo ascends the throne in his place. Shahana had suspected that Kingo must have had something to do with their untimely deaths, as he had always been extremely jealous of Mahaan given that he was originally going to be king, but she of course had no proof that he killed them both. But still, Shahana doesn't give up hope that Mahaan's cubs still had to be out there somewhere, and she occasionally leaves the Night Pride claiming that she was visiting other ill animals in the kingdom, but in reality she was searching for her nephew's cubs.
Years later, Shahana eventually finds her grandnephew Sinh and her two grandnieces Babina and Kamba during one of her searches, having been taken in by a wolf that Mahaan had apparently saved years ago. Shahana informs them of what had been going on in their birth pride during their absence, how their uncle Kingo was currently the pride's ruler and Shahana has suspected that he may have had something to do with his parent's untimely deaths. Believing that Kingo was the reason for him and his sisters becoming orphans, Sinh now spends his time training for the day he would return to his home and challenge his uncle. Upon overthrowing Kingo, Sinh and the rest of the Night Pride quickly discover that it was actually a tiger named Khanish who had murdered them, and after he is dealt with Sinh becomes the rightful monarch of the Night Pride. Knowing that she didn't have much time left, Shahana spends her remaining years helping to guide Sinh in his new role as king and trains her niece Babina to become the pride's new healer, making sure that she will continue her work once she's gone.
Shahana lives long enough to see Sinh become a father, and dies peacefully from old age when his cubs are just old enough to remember her.
Shahana is Aunt Shannon from Simba The King Lion. She only appears in the second to last episode of the show just to give Simba's kids their own superpowers, and then...dies? Or I'm assuming she died, she just disappears into a puff of smoke and then one of Simba's friends says "Don't worry, she lived a long life". I decided to give her a bigger role in my TLK universe, and given how old she appeared to be in the show, I decided to make her his great-aunt.
BTW "log" is Hindi for "people", or at least according to Google Translate. Humans are referred to as "watu" in the TLK universe as mentioned in one of the magazine stories, so I imagine that Asiatic lions like Shahana would have their own regional name for them as well.
