A really long silly story to fit the nap interrupted by mischievous siblings. This story really took me, aiming for the show's style. I am proud of its absurdity.
Original Description From DeviantArt:
The moonlit night seeped in through the windows glass, creeping in like a white veil. Painting any surface with a snowy glow, like a fresh coat of snow greeting with playful touches. The moon greeted a sleeping toon, a weary character that could be tuckered out from any and all antics if they kept going long enough.
He laid on a couch, hand resting on his belly, the other with his fingers kissing the intricately designed carpet. His chest expanding and contracting with snoring breaths. His fuzzy foot paws propped upon the arm of the couch, toes occasionally curling, twitching and rubbing sub-consciously to ease an itch.
Mumbles, groans and even short show tunes spilled from his maw. The letter Z fluttered from his lips, swaying as they float upwards to the ceiling. Even resting, Yakko was Yakko. An unstoppable force. All was quiet, the sound of a faint Television echoed in the background. A white noise which maximized comfort, nothing could ruin this-
"Don't be so sure of that narrator." Yakko interrupted in his sleep, eyes closed, but spoken with a slurred drowsiness. His hand raised matter-of-fact, wagging his finger like a professor giving a course in being a toon. Despite being deep in the realms of sleep, he was absolutely correct. The door to the room creaked on its hinges, opening to reveal eyes aglow.
The pitter patter of barefeet, creaked against the wooden floorboards. Announcing Yakko's guests with trumpets of the wooden variety, and not as gracefully with a sound like an elephant cackling at a peanut joke.
The steps were deliberate, precise with minimal sound to not stir Yakko from DreamLand.
"Okay okay! Whoa whoa! Stop everyone!" Yakko sat up from where he lay, crossing his arms looking at me through the screen. He could see Wakko and Dot paused, their expressions looking annoyed at themselves. "Yeah sorry to ruin the reveal of my siblings... My problem is you, Narrator."
I was baffled. I let out a deep sigh. Talking back to the clearly perturbed toon. "What is the issue, Yakko?"
"All the fancy smancy names you could've used... 'DreamLand'?" He spat it out, as if it was food he was forced to eat. "Why not 'SleepyWorld', 'Yakko's Universe', or 'SheepySleepys'?!" He listed holding out his fingers to count the ways, his ears bounce, toes splay and nose crinkles.
"I like to call it 'DizzyLand'... but that sounds close to another company owned theme park that I am not permitted to say." Wakko stuck out his tongue playfully, chuckling.
"How about 'DreamDots'? Sounds cute, don't it?" She snickered and put her finger in deep thought.
I was perplexed, and writing these stories when tired and nearing sleep didn't help. I of course couldn't bring myself to put an excuse out to Yakko, with Wakko and Dot peering at me as well with such ridiculous suggestions.
"Hey! They're not ridiculous!" Dot responded angrily, clenching her fists so tight you could see the animation team's budget rise with each passing second.
"Okay! Sorry Dot! I didn't mean it. Wakko, I appreciate you holding your tongue. Yakko... we'll go with one of your suggestions." I am not used to handing the reins of my written work to another, but if it meant the story could continue without another hitch. Then so be it.
"Good!" Yakko has a comically large book of names for people that name their dream-spaces. He crosses his ankles, and traces a finger along the pages. "Can you believe I found this at a thrift store?"
"You went to the thrift store... without me?!" Wakko sounded wounded, eyes welling with tears and clutching his chest.
Dot shakes her head. "We asked you if you wanted to come... you were busy playing that new game, 'FieldBattler 7' or whatever you call it."
"Oh... right." Wakko rubs the back of his neck. "Still you went without me..." He sounded with pain still in his voice.
"Okay! Okay! We got a story that needs to play out... Yakko, got a name for us..." I say clearly upset that the story has been derailed as much as it has.
"Yep! I do! We'll use this one here." He pauses, clearing his throat to read the name. "YakkosAwesomeDreamyParadiseFilledWithBeautiful-"

"Talk about knocking 'em dead..." Yakko spoke, looking over with concern.
"Is that what that was?" Wakko peered through my window screen, indeed I was out like a lamp. A daze in my eyes. "Not dead, just in his own 'DizzyLand'."
"Welp... time to reach my agent." Dot pulls out a smart phone, beginning to type away with audible clicks.
"Dot, we don't have time in this short story to call agents, or get sued, Wakko. We have to do this story the old fashion way... without a narrator." Yakko declared with a raised finger, waggling it with affirmation.
Dot and Wakko let out a gasp. "No Narrator?!" In unison they shout.
"Relax, we just follow the script!" Yakko yanks the pages from behind his ear, his eyes scanning each line of text with exceptional perception, not before dawning a pair of reading spectacles. "Okay... me sleeping on the couch... the moonlight coming from the windows... Wakko and Dot sneak in like thieves in the night... Oh, the tormenting thought of taunting my ticklish tootsies, that's what we were getting to." Yakko emphasized with rapid toe wiggling.
"Don't forget cute ticklish nosies!" Dot added brushing the feather along Wakko's nose, causing him to let out a giggle followed by a sneeze.
"ACHOOO!" Wakko leaped off his feet, hat flying off his noggin before plopping back between his ears.
"Right here... Okay, Dot you stand behind me. Wakko you stand at the opposite side..." He goes over it with ho's and humm's slipping from his mouth. "Unfortunately they didn't finish it, but doesn't mean we can't improvise. I'll go back to sleep... and you... well be yourselves." He smiles tossing the script away.
Wakko pulls out a clapperboard, clapping it down with unnecessary force. "Okay... ready... ACTION!"
The eldest sibling collapsed with a snore erupting, Z's bubbling from his maw. The light shined against his soles. The footsteps softened on the carpet, with Wakko stifling a growing chuckle. Dot slithered to her target, the top where Yakko's head snored carelessly.
"Snoring loudly can make us really fickle." Dot said, pulling out a pink feather. Leaning over the arm, his eyes glinting with mischievous intent. The pink feather brandished
"Especially when prone to a feathery..." Wakko produced a green feather striking a pose to motion to the feather in hand standing on one foot to present, pulling two more from his blue sleeve which floated onto the table. Blue and purple which looked to be plucked from a vibrant bird.
"Tickle! Tickle Tickle!" They exclaimed together, feathers pinched between thumbs and index fingers. You can imagine the uproarious laughter from the siblings. Yakko's voice bellowing with howls towards the moon, with accompanying giggles, teases and feathery strokes from Wakko and Dot. A playful memory that would be recounted, like any other in good company.
A little something silly which turned into something far bigger. As it so often goes. This is my longest, silliest and out there story too. Tried to capture a similar style to what we've seen in the Animaniacs. I think I did a decent job, fun practice. It has been forever since I watched the show, so I need to brush up on it before I attempt more. I'd like to write about them doing something super mundane, like standing in a line at the grocery store or watching a documentary on ants. Really get exciting stuff to be seen.
This is a scene which reminds me of those memes and jokes about falling asleep in front of friends, but with siblings here. Always got to mess with someone that is sleeping for some reason. Yakko made the foolish move of not only sleeping, but exposed with his feet up. As if asking for something to greet his soles, which surely Wakko would. Dot is doing the classic nose tickle, just needs some whipped cream and his hand to be open.
The render itself took me about half a day to make. Another half of the story. I've been messing with lights, shadows and volumetric lighting. You can see it being used. The issue with the volumetric lighting is washing out the scene and losing color. The effect was going to be just the lighting from the moon outside to fill the scene with shadows. It didn't come out. So I went for a warm cool mix and liked how the white light blends so well with the models. Granting that depth I always look for.
The making of this reminded me of how I grew up with my siblings, being rough as hell. Even my Dad would roughhouse with us. My mom wasn't a fan, cause we'd get pretty wild knocking over furniture. Resulting in many tickles, tackles or even solid punches giving each other dead arms or dead legs. Bruises would come from this, but it was so damn fun. :)
