Trekkie, half-arctic grey wolf, howling with the pack. The red-gold sunlight of this winter afternoon gave the photo an autumnal background which I love.
Trekkie (actually named Trekkie Monster by a sponsor) is a young male wolf at the Conservators' Center, NC, raised primarily by my husband and I as part of the volunteer staff.

It's an honor and an education, both. :) You should look around where you live; lots of wolf places exist and often are willing to train dedicated volunteers to work with them. I learned at Wolf Park in Indiana and now, many years later, here. :) I consider myself blessed to have been able to work at both places!
