These sketches are so awesome! I love how varied and adorable they are. It's hard to pick a favorite. If I had to choose, I think pinstripe suit Silvio towards the bottom and Birdie asking Sil if he has a headache are my favorites. Sil just looks so sassy in that bottom picture. :D

Oh hi! Thanks, it makes me happy to hear that it's fun to look at! I do really like the headache pic, it took awhile to get their expression right. Sil really struggles with headaches. And yeah! I love him in that pinstripe suit, I was originally going to make it a traditional tuxedo, but Sil is vain and flashy. He does have a look about him like he's assessing whether or not to get involved in a brewing situation.

I can only imagine what his closet looks like. I bet he has a lot of suits and tuxedos. I notice him and Birdie seem to yield guns. Are they a part of a group? :o

Yes! He does struggle with headaches, mostly Sinus headaches and Cluster Headaches (I have both, that's why I gave them to him.) He honestly has a lot of chronic illness problems, including back issues and a few others--that's why he's so Hunched.

And yes! Birdie and Sil are in the Cosa Nostra--the Sicilian Mafia. The Boss is Mikey Caroselli (I have not drawn him yet.) who is Silvio's childhood friend. Sil is his Consigliere, basically the Ear of the King in a sense. He handles day to day things for Mikey, as well as settling disputes between members, being an advisory figure to Mikey, and handling sit downs. I think people would call him a "Fixer" in a less structured criminal syndicate.

He also runs a casino and a bar, which is mostly how he makes his money, since he doesn't do traditional jobs in the mafia. It's important for the Consigliere to be basically untouchable by the police, and for the FBI/Police to have to jump through a lot of hoops to take them down, because like. If the Boss is killed, incapacitated, or put in Prison, Sil would act as Boss until an arrangement was made, or even indefinitely depending on the situation.

Birdie is a Captain in the Family, and a pretty high ranking one. Him and Mikey don't get along because of some old beefs, but he's an effective capper so they put their differences aside for that reason (and also because him and Sil are married and Mikey respects the Hell out of Sil so he tries to be respectful.)

I'm sorry to hear you deal with these types of headaches too. That's no fun. :(

Oh, how cool! Thank you for not only answering my questions but being so in-depth too. Lots of juicy details, haha! Sil and Birdie gave me mafia vibes but I wasn't sure. It sounds like Sil doesn't do a lot of the traditional stuff the mafia does, which is interesting. Because you usually don't see that. I'd love to see Mikey drawn someday though. Was Mikey given his position as boss or did he have to fight for it?

I wonder what Birdie's done, if anything. Maybe I'm wrong but I feel like it might be because he's on the Spectrum and Mikey and him clash over it.

Sil does do traditional Mafia stuff! I just explained poorly. I meant that he doesn't do grunt work, running around after drops and payments etc. most of his money is "clean" and is laundered through his 'legitimate' businesses, so to speak, so it would be difficult to take him down without a RICO case, but not impossible in the slightest.

As for Birdie and Mikey--Birdie went to prison for 4 years. Him getting out of prison is about where I usually start the storytelling timeline. He went down for gun possession and drugs, and his time in prison negatively impacted his relationship with Mico (Mikey) who he felt should have tried harder to get him out quicker, but the Mafia has the rule of Omerta--you're not allowed to talk about it, either in or out of prison, but esp in prison.

The biggest rift this caused, is that basically once you're in prison, you don't get visitors--which included Silvio not coming to see him, on Mikey's order. By the time Birdie got out of prison, his relationship with Mikey was in shambles, and him and Sil had to do a lot of work to reconnect. Birdie is very sensitive, and he came close to ratting in prison just to get out.

Sil did send him letters and messages from time to time (not strictly by the book that). I think that's why their relationship healed more than him and Mikey's did. But you are correct, that Birdie's "quirks" as Mikey calls them, from being on the Spectrum, Highly Annoy Mikey and he has constantly tried to get Silvio to be on his side about damning Birdie for those traits. But of course Sil is Sil, and he's not very easily swayed in that regard.

He's also not Lying to himself about Birdie being a troublemaker (nothing to do with his Autism that) but he's also never going to throw him under the bus--which annoys Mikey, because he feels, to some extent, that Sil is choosing Birdie over him, and Mikey still has an old flame for Sil going from when they were younger.

I know they're literal Mafia members but I feel bad for Birdie. Poor thing, spending time in prison. I can see how it'd hurt his relationship with Mikey and Sil both. But I'm glad Birdie was able to re-connect with Sil.

Yis. Mikey and Sil were in love with each other in their late teens-early twenties, but Sil moved on, Mikey always had feelings for him though, while Silvio's feelings mellowed out into deep friendship. He gets very annoyed at the bickering between Birdie and Mikey, because to him, he loves them both--he just doesn't love Mikey in the way Mikey WISHED he did.

But yes! They're in the Mafia, and Sil is Consigliere, which is a very important role in the Mafia, it's the highest rank aside from Boss.

Birdie is...so soft. He's so soft, and he wasn't built for the Life, but he's still in the Mafia, and still doing his job. Their story gets streamlined later. But yeah! I don't mind being asked questions about them. :> I'm just glad people seem to like em!
