As a former US Marine that went through a bit of varied training, there was a good deal of intro pieces that were an interesting parallel reminder of those days.
The latter sections hit me as a pleasant 'what if.'

Following a comment below about ears, I had always envisioned a theoretical species that is a bit more outlandish, ears, tails, wings, etc - I have to wonder if there would be cases that they would undergo surgery to shorten or remove these features to help in combat/armor/stealth missions. Like the Romans did with no beards and long hair - to prevent a handhold for the enemy to grab onto while in combat. Would there be any cases like this with the Si'itian's and various armed forces/government entities?
I'm just picturing a troupe of uber hard core personnel walking through a corridor with such alterations and everyone giving them a significant berth. "See them? Yeah, you don't mess with them."

There may well have been something like that in the past, when they weren't a quasi mono-culture yet, but the modern day Empire would definitely not endorse such a branch. A big part of what constitutes modern si'itian philosophy concerns itself with the biological identity of the species and the maintenance thereof. The idea of visibly altering what they, as a species, look like, runs counter to one of their core tenets, so that's highly unlikely.

Having said that, what constitutes their special warfare branches does engage in, well, special warfare, but the idea is not to advertise that you're part of those obviously, so they'd be the least likely to have anything remotely hinting at the idea they're anything but ordinary citizens.

So deeply stimulating narrative.

I absolutely adore stories that have both scifi, space, casual non-sexual nudity (more like, medical scientific understanding of life), and weapons and forms of bio tech. ...so I gotta love this scenarios.

Yeah, I figure this stuff'll scratch several of those itches. In various degrees, but it'll be there :3

And reproduction set aside I also hope we get more Nude Neia, maybe even a Nude Neia in a Ask Neia. She can be caught dressing or be caught undressing or she can just be casually nude.
