Poor Solan!! He was asked to come to Thanatos Industries to go over a problem that Thanatos had with a contract and this is what happened to him. This is a scene from the story I'm working on but the art has been changed a bit from what actually happened.
It's not exactly like it happens in my story but it looks good. For one Owen's not the one doing the smashing with the bat. It's just a random goon of Thanatos's. But I started drawing a random guy then thought since Owen works there it would be nice to have him do this and show the blood lust in his eyes again. So in he went. What's happening is Thanatos has called this meeting with Solan because he's partnered up with Flare Enterprise. He found out that Solan is really the Sun God Sorath. So when Solan asks him what the trouble is and why he called for him Thanatos responds by saying, "There's no problem, SORATH." While Solan reacts shocked to hearing his true name Owen pulls out the bat and whacks him in the head knocking him out. Thanatos now has a prisoner. I like that even though Owen has finished his strike with the bat it also looks like he's ready to bring it down a second or third time and bludgeon poor Solan. But Thanatos wouldn't allow that. He wants him alive.
So the first thing that will catch your attention is the cool reflection in the table. That's the effect I'd been so excited about doing. I've done reflections before but never one this complex and realistic. I think Thanatos is my favorite character in this piece. I love his eyes and I love how he's totally enjoying this. Poor Solan, boy was he ever set up. I wasn't sure if a blow like this would draw blood or not. Thanatos didn't want him dead he just wanted him knocked out. I also had to decide if Owen would use a wood or a metal bat. I was going to make it wood. I'd even drawn the grains in it but then changed my mind at the last second. I kept picturing a wood bat breaking. But I like lots of violence so even though in the story he was hit hard enough to just be knocked out I went for the look of a kill in this.
