This is in response to the apparent bitchfest that popped up recently on LJ. Anthrocon's coming up, Kage thought it'd be a good idea to bring fair warning to those who might attend Anthrocon without paying their fair share of the service it provides (and an acceptable explanation on why it's a Pretty Bad Thing (TM))...and it all came tumbling down.
After years of experiencing furries A) not tipping for good service, B) bringing their own bottled and canned drinks into a bar, and C) believiong that five bucks would easily cover an entree and soda at a group Applebee's dinner, I'm actually not surprised at the cheapness of some people.
So if you're claiming victory and you're gonna ghost, why not advertise it for the whole world! Let everyone see what a freeloader you really are. Wear with pride!

Having worked security at a con, it's surprising how many people really do this. I've always been a firm believer in tipping well for good service. I've been known to give out as high as a $20 tip on perhaps a $40 meal if the waitstaff truely goes out of their way to make everything just the way I want it. Cheap people make me sick (and when I say 'cheap', I'm not referring to someone who is thrifty).
I tip only when i can afford to and only when the service is outstanding not "average"
I only sneak my own food and or drink into movie theaters because they are retardedly overpriced
I hate applebees, sorry i just dont like most establishments, i prefer to go to a TGI Friday's or Chili's eat my food, leave a tip if the waiter was particularly worth tipping (better than average service, actually stood out as nice) and get the hell out and on with my day.
As for the people blatantly being cheap asses... stop making legitimately broke people like myself look worse, bad enough i have half my friends thinking i hump dogs and watch bestiality porn because i told them im a furry. -_- i dont need them thinking im a cheapass too

meh, dun affect me. unless some kindly rich person dumps a huge great wad of cash in my lap sometime, I'm not likely to be able to afford to ever go to one of these things anyways since they all insist on being on the wrong side of the Atlantic, and the Atlantic insits on being so damnedly huge.
that said, if I did go, if the service wa good enough, I'd tip. might not be much, but ya gives what ya can right? Haven't a clue who or what an Applebee is. but it sound like it makes rather intriguing honey.
also haven't a clue what "without paying their fair share of the service it provides" means either. you mean you dont like people who don't provide a service? surely the service costs are included in the entrance price?
another question. If Slimer attended, but was quite generous with tips etc... does he have to wear the T-shirt?
Not that Slimer'd tip ever; though he does give free bus rides.

*laughs hard at the last one* I'de love to own that Pac Man Clyde shirt. ;3 Fan of retro, you know.
Wish I coulda' bought that mexican shirt I saw at Walmart of a cheeply made ghost (like the pack man one, but with smother lines and two little black dots for eyes and a jagged line for the mouth) and it says "Oi Coocoie!" *laughs* It's a mexican joke. ^^; *laughs*

I usually Over-tip myself ($4-$5 for a $20 meal.), unless they already include 15% gratuity into the bill (which is usually only when I eat really late)... in which case, I don't tip because it's already been added to the bill.
I only bring beverages when I know said place I'm going to doesn't have diet coke (or diet pepsi)... which is usually only for parties and the like.
Five bucks won't even get you a small popcorn at the movies...

Heck, around here if you bring your own drinks into a bar, some 7ft. muscle mountain is going to open the front door with your head. (It took two of them for a guy I used to work with.)
As for tipping, I always tip unless they went out of their way to make it bad. I know that waiting tables can be hell and sometimes the waiters can't control everything thats going on (cook staff under cooking or forgeting part of the dinner is not the waiter's fault!)
As for group dinners, I ALWAYS ask for my own ticket unless I'm under somekind of agreement that someone else is covering part of it (and I usualy argue the fact even then just out of principle, I belive in fairness to a point of being accused of having OCD.)
Have pride and be honest with your fellow furry friends.
