Hey thar!
Wow, would you look at that – only a business week in time difference since my last upload! This dog is improving on his workflow and gaining momentum as he scales the artistic hill of various disappointments and euphoric moments! promise I won’t keep on going on about this aspect of my drawings with each new upload, I’m just so excited that I too am finding my groove like a record player does on a turn table. Except I’m going in circles chasing my tail, not mindlessly XD
Here goes!
Lobo finally, and I mean finally gets through to someone who’s manning the electronic speaker box that rests underneath the faded menu of old. His eyes need not study the withering thing as he’s grown familiar with it over the years, the only things he takes note of are the ever rising prices – to which these are greeted with a growl and a snap of his teeth as he attempts to bite the hand of inflation that permeates the air. In his mind which resides much, diverts attention from thoughts to his lips ordering to what his heart so desires. Not before he’s greeted by the nice lady running the restaurant. From an outside perspective, it looks like Orio’s order is actually pretty large, I mean 8 sets of 3 tacos? 3 churros? That’s a lot! For one dog supposedly? We all know dogs can eat a whole lot, but still this is absurd! You’d think punishment for his diabolical request, she withholds the napkins – forcing him to rub all the taco and cinnamon residue off his paws and onto his fur. Thus making him look more coyote than wolf, well that and smelling like a Bath and Body works :D
But he doesn’t get an immediate reply like usual, the silence deafening like his wife’s shouts when he accidentally snores louder than a jet turbine engine when passing out on the couch. The wolf dog’s sadness from earlier when he had to wait for his meal is now metamorphosing into indifference – his grey speckled muzzle turned mugshot in the open window of the trusty 1st gen Highlander. His eyes, their default half closed position make his “Are you seeing this?” demeanor even more pronounced. He was told to order, he ordered, and now he’s met with radio static again? How much more is this joint gonna make him wait? In times like these, of pure bewilderment, his left tooth likes to make itself known to the world – making his otherwise intimidating lupine features soften with the endearing appearance of a “toof”!
His trance was so rudely interrupted by the speaker calling out for him to move up quickly to the pick up window – and he so appropriately answered with a deep *WOOF*. He’s a canine, of course every so often his muzzle emits not words but normal canine noises. Plus barking instead of saying “Sure” hides any rudeness or annoyance, as interpreting a *WOOF* in this manner is much more difficult haha.
With a foot on the pedal (he forgoes shoes, why wear shoes when you have a perfectly capable paw with claws and thick paw pads to handle things?) he quickly speeds off.
It isn’t like him to only order this much – Sandra knows this. She prepares herself anytime the Calupoh heads her way, so you better believe she knows this dog’s ordering habits and routines like the back of her hand. His constant patronage transitioned their relationship from simple customer interaction to friendship! So it allows the manager to quip at the wolf dog in certain ways that any regular human WOULD NEVER be able to. Imagine telling an anthro canine to eat kibble, or an anthro cat if they prefer a box instead of a lavatory. No way!
They’re good friends, so no wonder Sandra would find any opportunity to joke to her favorite canine customer in such a way. There’s not a whole lot of those like him, so they make the best of their interactions! Knowing Lobo could easily put down more than 8 cups in a day, his reply intrigues her as it’s not like him to withhold satiating his hunger haha. Must be something super special tonight then!
And indeed it is! Polo – one of the 4 of his litter (litter in practice, but Polo and his siblings were not born at the same time, more lore stuff!) is getting employeed, whohoo! And after he gets the job, the household of canines will party at the Calupoh’s parent’s house. What a wonderful treat if it’s making the wolf dog wait to eat, his Mom must be able to whip up the best home cooked meals on this side of the globe then – with his Dad for emotional support. I wonder who his parents are… and how they did a great job in raising Loborio (and how many other siblings he must have XD).
The story is gonna start to be rich with world building in the new panels, and I’m excited to show you guys the kind of world that these two live in.
Procreate lets you check the amount of time that has elapsed as the project is open, and the sketch took me nearly 3 hours! It was because I worked on it on and off again for a few days and did so late at night when super tired. So it was hard to figure out how I wanted to translate the script I wrote into art. But when I finished the sketch, I kid you not I went from “finishing touches on the sketch” ---→ “coloring some stuff” within THE DAY. This is significant because I’ve never been able to draw so fast and so efficiently before! I surprised myself, and it has given more more confidence to continue the comic – and some other drawings in the works :D The only thing I’m working on is the image sizes and the font size. I feel like the text is too small and too big at times, but I will be tweaking things as the comic goes on.
I draw using an Ipad Mini 6 – and ONLY ever draw in portrait mode. Never landscape. So when I view my drawings on my Ipad and phone, FA’s viewport shows the drawing in full taking up my phone screen just fine. But when I look at my art on PC – the drawing is so large you have to scroll to see the whole thing. So I ask, do yall want me to scale down my drawings more or are the large sizes ok? This is another thing I want to experiement with, and if a scaled down drawing looks too small I’ll just upload the higher res image instead in an edit.
Thank you guys for hearing me out again, and I look forward to showing you another update :D

When he gathers his hoards of wealth, does he also gather silver and either sell it for eye watering profits or does he destroy all these reserves so he might not be harmed by it haha.
Who does he bank with too XD
Think of chicken wings with sauces. But instead of tumbling wings, your tumbling nuggets in the fast food equivalent of Heinz rare "Every Sauce" lmao

I literally burst out laughing at the look on his face in the second panel. The one lil toof sticking out is like cherry on top on his ''adorkable'' face.
Also, you know proper taco place is proper when the employees speak Spanish even if just phrases [and not charging $5-$10 for just one taco].
It makes me happy to read of your excitement to get back into the flow of things. Positive, optimistic doggos like you deserve to have fun and be happy more than anyone. Don't worry about taking hours, I think this page would have taken me a month. In my eyes and comparison you're a speedy!

Aww that part was my favorite part to draw, I'm so glad you loved it!!! I had fun trying to make Lobo's face all "Are you serious right now?" with a "done with life" look on a canine mug haha. His eyes are always half way closed due his wolf side shining out - and they make his tired faces all the more funnier. And yes the toof!!! It pokes out at the most inconvenient of times, making him less scary and more adorkable XD
Exactly!!! You know the food is gonna be good when the workers reflect the food properly! And the prices, a couple of dollars worth of food there is gonna be worth it. The value is insane sometimes, and earns your loyalty as a devoted customer haha.
Aww that means more to me than you can know, it warms my heart <3
Despite some negativity happening here and there, recently things have been on the up and up mentally and physically. I've gotten into a groove, "found myself" in a way, and have been trying to kick butt at being productive and smart with my time. Plus being more grateful for the things I do have and not be sad at what I don't. I've been working hard to get my newest certification and hopefully get a job with it by my next birthday - and then that will be my first major step in my plan to move out and room with some family!
I will infect others with my optimism and energy and they too will share in the fun and happiness XD
Dude, you draw traditionally if I were to try this with pencil and paper I would take months plural!!! You? You could get it done in a week with all the colors and lineart perfect if you really tried! I really want to upload some traditional art thanks to you as inspiration, you're stuff is so good I want to touch some of that greatness myself haha. Plus I need to comment on all the art you've been posting!!!!

Wait, he's half wolf? I didn't know, that's cool! No wonder he has a bottomless stomach, imagine him pulling up to the restaurant singing like he does ''Hungry like the Wolf'' by DuranDuran haha.
A good value is becoming scarce these days but you're right when we find them we stick to them. I have my own go to places. Like I can understand a place raising their prices accordingly but logically you expect them to maintain the status quo otherwise you are shorting your valued customers.
''That's the spirit'' as they say. I know this month has been dark times but it really sounds like there is opportunity and hope for improvement in your life for you still! Everything will be ok, ok?
Maybe if not a week, two weeks but what I lack is pure drive and motivation to draw continuously day to day for reasons you might know. x'D Traditional traditionally [heh] does take longer than digital though I haven't proven it personally yet.

Yes! He is a Calupoh, a wolf dog breed based off what I found researching on a German Shepherd (among other breeds) and a Mexican Wolf - they are a semi-modern resurrection of an ancient breed from pre Hispanic Mexico!
Haha he can scarf down a whole lot, to the dismay of those near him and his wallet XD It's funny you mention that song - it's one of my own Dad's favorites so it fits perfectly :D Along with this one which he would play a ton and sing along to many a times when I was young https://youtu.be/_FA85RO89HA
It's nice finding keeper of a spot for food and stuff - it makes shopping easier for a bite to eat and helps you save money. I don't know why some businesses do that, why even bother raises the price if you can't do a just as good job after!
Thank you Javi, even now when I feel a lot better in that regard I still needed to hear that. The same is true for you as well friend!!!
It's weird how motivation with things we love works sometimes, you think a task or hobby that makes our brains super happy would make said brain be like "Yeah let's keep this going!" - but nope it works against you some days! And obviously negative things out of our control are factors too.
I would love to see you try to draw digitally, but you're so freaking amazing at traditional (even with coloring) that it's become your calling card and makes your art 10x more enjoyable in the eye candy department :D

Napkins are very important! Else you have to use your own fur as the napkin and that's no fun!
I do wonder how eating something messy like a taco or even doritos would work with a paw - it must suck because all the oils and dust would coat your fur and get on your paw pads and take forever to wash and get all the grime out completely.
Maybe carry some hand wipes at all times then haha.

Now that I think about it more, so long as your paw isn't like getting absurdly wet you should be fine no? Plus, you can always just... lick your paws clean I'm sure an anthro canine wouldn't have any issues with that XD
Or if you grab things with your claws instead of paw pads, it will keep them clean too.
The only thing is washing your paws with soap and water in a sink would take a whole lot longer than a human because of the fur. I'd imagine you would need 8 napkins before they got dry enough!
